10 powerful weapons that you can obtain early in Elden Ring

The world of Elden Ring is not a friendly one. Just as you would expect from a FromSoftware game, your first steps will be tough, challenging, and enjoyable. However, as you progress through the lands in between, you will discover that you have some serious weapons at your disposal to help you hold your ground, regardless of how your character is built.

You don't have to travel too far to acquire powerful weapons. Some of these weapons can be looted from chests, found in dungeons, or obtained from bosses. If you're ready to face some challenges, summon your faithful steed Torrent and be prepared to show the lands in between what you're made of.

10 Morning Star

10 Powerful Weapons You Can Get Early In Elden Ring

Not far from Limgrave lies the Weeping Peninsula, which you can reach by heading southeast from Agheel Lake, south of the Grace Grounds. After crossing the bridge, continue south along the road, and you will come across a destroyed carriage. In the rear part of the carriage, there is a suitcase containing the unique weapon called Morning Star.

This handy combat weapon requires low strength and dexterity to wield and deals an impressive 118 physical damage. The true strength of the weapon lies in its ability to cause bleeding, making it easy to decimate a significant portion of your enemy's health. In fact, it will leave your enemies... in mourning.

9 Twinblade

10 Powerful Weapons You Can Get Early In Elden

While exploring Limgrave, you will come across the dragon-burnt ruins situated amidst a large lake. Once you have defeated or stealthily bypassed the flying dragon Agheel, you need to utilize the whirlwind to jump into a section of the ruins that is enclosed by four walls. Once inside these ruins, descend into the underground cellar and find the twin swords in a chest.

The twin swords are a perfect starting point for any player specializing in two-handed wielding. With a strength requirement of ten and a dexterity requirement of 18, these dual blades will make cutting through enemies particularly easy. The "Whirling Strike" ability will also add some flair to your combat.

8 Reduvia

10 Powerful Weapons You Can Get Early In

Reduvia is a handy little dagger that specializes in one thing: making your enemies bleed. With low requirements for strength, arcane, and dexterity, fast attack speed, and relatively low stamina consumption, this dagger is already an impressive weapon for early Tarnished. Not to mention its ability to hurl shards of solid blood at enemies. Fun!

To obtain this weapon, you must defeat Bloody Finger Nerijus in the gorge that leads towards the Murkwater Catacombs. Although Nerijus may surprise you the first time, you will be able to easily get rid of him if you are skilled (and with a little help from Bloody Finger Hunter Yura).

7 Great Épée

10 Powerful Weapons You Can Get Early

After about an hour of playing, you will probably feel quite comfortable in the area around Lake Agheel. If you go east of Lake Agheel, south of the Grace Compound, you will come across two heavily armored soldiers at a small camp. Regardless of how you deal with the soldiers, you will want to search for a chest next to a banner. In this chest, you will find the Great Épée.

With a high physical damage of 124 and moderate strength and dexterity requirements of 15 and 16 respectively, the Great Épée is perfect if you want to deal damage while still remaining protected. You can use the Great Épée alongside a shield to stab your enemy while absorbing a few extra blows. This makes it one of the most useful thrusting swords you can obtain throughout the game.

With a strength requirement of 11 and a dexterity requirement of 15, the Uchigatana deals 115 physical damage and causes bleeding, which means you can quickly take down lightly armored enemies without much trouble. Its ability, "Stomp," allows you to perform an upward slash against enemies while maintaining recoil and balance.

However, there are a few things to consider with this weapon. It has a high strength requirement of 19, needs to be effectively wielded with both hands, and costs 3,500 runes. If you want to obtain one of the many colossal swords in Elden Ring early on, you will need to prepare for the required statistics and expenditure accordingly.

After defeating the queen, she will drop the Demi-Human Queen Staff and the Crystal Storm spell. This staff requires an intelligence stat of ten to be used, making it useful for those who are not building a magic-focused character but occasionally need a bit of magical support.

This thorn-covered shield is very lightweight and only requires eight strength to wield. Not only does the shield enhance focus (protecting you from harmful status effects like sleep and madness), but the thorns on the front also cause enemies to bleed when you strike them with it. With this menacing yet useful shield, you can both protect yourself and inflict damage upon your foes.

Its unique ability, Bloodhound's Agility, allows you to perform a somersault with the sword, slashing enemies as you retreat from them.

To obtain this sword, you must defeat the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in the Abandoned Dog's Lair at the southern end of Limgrave before reaching the Weeping Peninsula. If you're having trouble with Darriwil, you can seek assistance from Blaaid - that will make the fight a breeze.
