According to a reputable leaker and insider source, Bethesda's upcoming unannounced title is based on a Disney property.
The leaked ZeniMax roadmap indicates that the game is scheduled to release within the company's fiscal year 2024, though there are doubts about the accuracy of its specific launch window.
It remains uncertain which of Bethesda's development teams is leading the development of the Disney title, as the company has multiple studios located in different places.
According to a well-known leaker, Bethesda's enigmatic licensed IP game is derived from a Disney property. The existence of this undisclosed title was recently exposed as part of the extensive Xbox leak, wherein Microsoft inadvertently uploaded a substantial amount of its confidential information to the website of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Within the unredacted documents, among other information, were a five-year schedule for releasing titles and a revenue forecast from ZeniMax Media, which Microsoft acquired in early 2021. The roadmap unveiled that remasters of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion were being developed in 2019, along with an unnamed game based on a licensed IP. Furthermore, the same document, created in 2019, clarified that the mentioned title is distinct from the Indiana Jones adaptation being worked on by Bethesda and MachineGames, as that particular project was listed separately.
However, industry insider Nick Baker disclosed during the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, citing an unnamed source, that the unannounced project shares a connection with the Indiana Jones game in that both are based on Disney properties. The leaker did not provide further details regarding this claim, except acknowledging that a Disney intellectual property doesn't necessarily limit the range of potential candidates for Bethesda's upcoming project. Previously, Baker reported that a game based on The Mandalorian was expected to be in development no later than early 2022. However, even if this information is accurate, it is plausible that there are other Disney properties currently slated to receive interactive adaptations.
According to the leaked ZeniMax roadmap, the company anticipated that Bethesda's enigmatic licensed IP game would be released within its fiscal year 2024. However, it is uncertain whether the project is still on track to meet its planned launch window, as several other titles mentioned in the leak did not. For instance, the 2019 forecast indicated that ZeniMax had anticipated both the Indiana Jones game and the Oblivion remaster to be released in 2022.
Irrespective of whether the upcoming title is based on another Disney property or not, this recent development appears to confirm a mid-2021 report that stated Bethesda is working on at least one undisclosed game. What remains unclear is which development team is leading the alleged Disney title. Bethesda recently confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 has entered early production after the release of Starfield, suggesting that their main team in Rockville, Maryland, is likely occupied with that project.
Additionally, the company has satellite offices located in Dallas and Montreal, which have primarily served as supporting roles in their non-mobile projects thus far. Another potential option is Bethesda Game Studios Austin, recognized for its contributions to the development of 2016's Doom and Fallout 76.
