According to the renowned Dragon Ball insider Geekdom, Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is reportedly set to be released sometime in the year 2024.
"Tenkaichi 4 is coming sooner than people realize," tweeted Geekdom. When asked if that means it will be released in early 2024, he replied, "maybe." A fan responded, saying, "No, that can't be," but Geekdom stated that it all depends on what one means by "early."
Since the release of the third installment in 2007, there hasn't been another Tenkaichi game. However, earlier this year, after months of leaks, rumors, and speculation, a fourth game was announced. Details are still scarce, and there is no confirmed release date or timeframe yet. Officially, we only know that Super Saiyan Blue Goku will be featured. In March, however, we learned that the alleged codename for the game is "Sparking! Zero."
The exact meaning of this name is currently unclear. However, it is worth noting that the Tenkaichi series is known in Japan as "Sparking! [X]," with the 'X' being replaced by "Neo!" in the second game and "Meteor!" in the third game. "Zero" is often used for prequels, such as Resident Evil 0 and Yakuza 0, but since it is a codename, it could still change before the release.
Last month, Dragon Ball Z voice actor Sonny Strait also shared that he was "in the process of recording for a video game" that required "a lot of yelling." We don't know which game it is, but fans speculate that it could be Tenkaichi 4.
In June, it was reported that fans would finally get a first glimpse of Budokai Tenkaichi 4 in July after waiting for a decade. It was expected that the game would be announced during the Xbox Summer Showcase, which is usually where Dragon Ball Z games are revealed. Unfortunately, this turned out to be untrue, leaving fans disappointed and eagerly awaiting any news, no matter what it may be. If the game is indeed set to release in 2024, and even "early" 2024, whatever that may mean, we may not have to wait too much longer for this long-awaited sequel.
Geekdom has also hinted that they will share more information soon. When asked for further details about the release date, they replied, "Maybe I'll stream about it this week." And when fans asked when we can expect to hear more news, they responded, "Maybe this week." Perhaps we will learn more about what Geekdom means by "early." As for the announcement, the remaining events this year include PAX, EGX, and The Game Awards, where Geoff Keighley and several guests unveil new titles and updates on existing games. We might see Tenkaichi 4 there if Bandai Namco doesn't present the game themselves.
