According to a reliable source from within the inner circle of Persona, Persona 6 is expected to be released not in 2025 as many fans speculated, but rather in 2026, coinciding with the timely celebration of the series' 30th anniversary.
The Persona fans may already have several things to look forward to, as the release of Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica is within reach, generating a great deal of anticipation for the future. Nevertheless, we cannot help but contemplate the next main installment of the series - Persona 6. Although Sega and Atlus have not officially unveiled Persona 6 yet, it has been such a long time since Persona 5 was released that many assumed we would receive the next game in the upcoming year or so.
However, it appears that this will not be the case. According to the reliable Persona insider MbKKssTBhz5, who has previously leaked information about several different Persona titles, it will be a while before we get to see anything from the next main game. According to their statements, Persona 6 is currently targeting a release in 2025, although it is more likely to be in 2026.
On Twitter, MbKKssTBhz5 expressed the following: "The next Persona game will not be released in 2024. Currently, the target is 2025, but 2026 is much more likely. It will be a more extensive game than P5, but in many ways, it will also be different. P3R is, in a way, a test for this game. It will be a more significant leap than from P3/P4 to P5."
Considering that Atlus and Sega are aiming for a release in 2025, it is possible that the game may indeed come out in that year. However, given the significance of Persona's 30th anniversary in 2026, it makes much more sense for the team to take their time and release the game in conjunction with the celebrations, rather than rushing for a 2025 release.
In addition to updates on Persona 6, MbKKssTBhz5 has also tweeted about something else. According to them, the Persona team is also working on a new game that will feature the entire "Persona series cast" and is expected to be released during the fiscal year 2024. It appears that there are plenty of Persona delights to look forward to beyond the main series.
Considering this, it appears likely that Atlus' next major game is Metaphor: ReFantazio, the fantasy role-playing game that was recently unveiled during Xbox's summer presentation. We don't have much information about this game yet, but it seems to be further along in its development compared to Persona 6, especially considering that the latter hasn't even been announced yet.
