Alien Hominid is making a comeback

Alien Hominid HD is an upcoming remake of the side-scrolling indie flash game that was originally released in 2002 on the popular flash-based content website, Newgrounds. It is set to be released later this year. Due to its smooth animations and comedic style, the original Alien Hominid quickly became a cult classic, subsequently making its way onto consoles such as PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube.

Due to its fast-paced gameplay and challenging difficulty that tested players' reflexes, Alien Hominid was often compared to other difficult side-scrolling shooters like Metal Slug. Players had to take control of a whimsically designed yellow alien armed with a blaster, exploring a charming hand-drawn 2D environment and engaging in intense battles against multiple waves of enemies. Alien Hominid received mostly positive reviews, contributing to the expansion of its fan base and establishing The Behemoth's reputation as a game developer. Later on, the company produced other popular games such as Castle Crashers and Pit People, each presenting the same imaginative style showcased in Alien Hominid.

Recently, The Behemoth released a YouTube trailer aiming to captivate gamers with action-packed scenes from the Alien Hominid HD remake. In the video, the familiar yellow alien storms onto the screen, ready to infiltrate Area 51 and fiercely confront the menacing government agents with all its might. The trailer showcases several game levels while the cheerful and somewhat silly title music of the game plays in the background. Alien Hominid HD is set to make its debut later this year on PC (via Steam) and select modern consoles.

Alien Hominid HD will offer both a single-player and local 2-player cooperative gaming experience, along with three different difficulty levels designed to appeal to players of all kinds. To spice things up, the original mini-games of Alien Hominid will also make a return. Furthermore, the game will feature brand-new Steam achievements, accompanied by weekly and monthly leaderboards for all three difficulty levels, aiming to motivate players and add an additional level of challenge and excitement.

With the simultaneous release of the game Alien Hominid Invasion, set in the same universe, the HD release of Alien Hominid has the potential to not only be a nostalgic journey for longtime fans but also attract a new generation of players who are eager to experience its unique charm and challenging gameplay. While the original fans of the series are undoubtedly excited to rediscover the game, it will be interesting to see if it gains popularity among first-time players as well.
