Her impressive performance later spread across social media, seamlessly integrating into the ever-expanding collection of amusing The Last of Us Part 2 clips.

The game developed by Naughty Dog in 2020 received widespread acclaim for its captivating gameplay and immersive storytelling, punctuated by tragic twists. And while moments of levity are scarce in The Last of Us Part 2, that doesn't deter the fan community from engaging in all sorts of entertaining escapades that stand out from this bleak world.

Since the game's release, the content creator OreVsWorld has accomplished numerous feats, with one of their most frequently recurring ideas being the improvisational approach to the theme of "Heist of the Year." As part of such an endeavor, the player had Ellie crawl onto a dilapidated sofa and then roll onto her back, positioning herself on the armrest as if about to drift off to sleep. However, since The Last of Us Part 2 does not provide a mechanic for brief slumber, the player decided to hurl Molotov cocktails at a nearby patrol from this relaxed position. Nonchalantly, Ellie observed as two unsuspecting enemies grappled with the fire, before leaning over the backrest and relieving the last one of his suffering with a well-placed headshot.

This amusing feat was one of OreVsWorld's earliest attempts at orchestrating intricate ambushes in The Last of Us Part 2, with the clip itself dating back to late March. However, it also stands as one of the content creator's most popular endeavors, as evidenced by its nearly eight million views on TikTok over the following six months. The actual reach is likely even higher, as the video continues to circulate on social media and recently resurfaced on the front page of the r/TheLastOfUs subreddit in late September.

Apart from its entertainment value, the video is also notable for highlighting the incredibly precise stealth mechanics of The Last of Us Part 2, which strike an excellent balance between fun and realism. Enemies tend to overlook details such as Ellie's head peeking out from behind a sofa, but their overall line of sight and hearing range are believable enough to immerse the player in the game world without being overly punishing.

These widely praised stealth mechanics are likely to be revisited by Naughty Dog in the future, possibly as early as the upcoming multiplayer spin-off of The Last of Us. However, even if that title were to be entirely focused on action, it seems that won't be the case for The Last of Us 3, as hinted by Neil Druckmann.
