Baldur's Gate 3 clarifies PS5 Early Access and preloads

Larian Studios has announced when PlayStation 5 players can expect to preload Baldur's Gate 3. The extensive RPG will have an installation size of over 100 GB on the PlayStation 5, slightly larger than on PC, which may result in delays in starting the game depending on the player's internet bandwidth. Some consider Baldur's Gate 3 to be Larian's best game to date, so this useful information will help PlayStation 5 owners estimate when they can dive into and experience the game themselves.

Baldur's Gate 3 is an extensive role-playing game based on Dungeons and Dragons, offering players a high degree of freedom in terms of actual role-playing and immersion, which only a few games can achieve. The game was available in Early Access on Steam for several years before its official release and has surpassed the expectations of many players. As of the time of writing, Baldur's Gate 3 holds a high Metacritic rating of 96, based on 88 reviews, placing it among the top 100 games of all time in terms of ratings.

Larian Studios has announced in a tweet when PlayStation 5 players can expect preloads for Baldur's Gate 3. Buyers of the Digital Deluxe Edition can expect the game's preloading to begin on August 31, 2023, at 16:00 UTC. The Early Access for Digital Deluxe Edition owners will start on September 2, 2023, also at 16:00 UTC. Unfortunately, players with the Standard Edition will have to wait until September 4, 2023, to begin preloading the game and can start playing on September 6, 2023, also at 16:00 UTC.

For those eagerly awaiting to play the Xbox Series version of Baldur's Gate 3, there is currently no clear start date or time provided. Hopefully, Larian will clarify this in the near future. At least now PlayStation 5 players know what to expect. Unfortunately, there are no ports planned for previous-generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, Baldur's Gate 3 runs natively on Apple's M1 Silicon for players who have access to the Mac platform.

Larian recently released a second major patch for Baldur's Gate 3. The patch includes bug fixes, various adjustments to the game's user interface, and general performance improvements. Additionally, a new epilogue scene for Karlach has been added. Larian has announced that they are also working on endgame scenes for other characters.

Baldur's Gate 3 is now available for PC. A PS5 version will be released on September 6, and an Xbox Series X/S version is scheduled to be released by the end of 2023.
