Players of Baldur's Gate 3 on the PS5 are reporting crashes and issues when loading specific save files, as an apparent problem with the PSN is affecting the gameplay. Until this issue is resolved, Larian Studios advises players to disable the Wi-Fi connection on their consoles and temporarily play offline.

We can confirm that this solution works, as the previously non-loading save files are now playable flawlessly in offline mode. However, it does mean that background updates cannot occur while playing, which is quite a significant disadvantage.

Yesterday, I encountered the problem for the first time, and it appears that many others on the internet have also been facing it. Twitter and Reddit were flooded with complaints about crashes and non-loading save files, which caused some to fear the loss of their progress. Some even went to the extent of deleting the entire game and reinstalling it, which undoubtedly would have taken a considerable amount of time.

However, do not worry, as your game progress is safe, and you won't have to wait for hours to reinstall the game. Simply disconnecting your PS5 from the internet should suffice to load your game saves, even if the game originally indicated that something was amiss.

Larian has confirmed this and recommends players to go offline until the issue is resolved. However, it is not clear who will fix it, as it is referred to as a problem with the PSN. Nonetheless, the error is being investigated. As inconvenient as it may be, at least it means you can continue playing as usual, but do not expect trophies to appear or your game saves to be secured for some time.

It is also worth mentioning that the problem seems to have been resolved for me, although others on the internet are still reporting that they cannot play online. After playing offline yesterday, the PSN has just started behaving normally for me, indicating that it may have been resolved for some, though not necessarily all, players.

However, this is not the only issue that players want Larian to address. Act 3 still presents performance problems, particularly frame rate stuttering. Regular updates have been released since the game's launch, so hopefully console players will be able to experience the final act of the game in due time, even if our PC counterparts haven't been as fortunate.
