Last month, Baldur's Gate 3 fans discovered a variety of removed content that revealed a scrapped upper city, the conclusion of Karlach's story, possibly Minthara's pregnancy, and much more. However, within this extensive list, there was a detail that most people missed - a removed werewolf bard companion.

YouTuber Kala Elizabeth tweeted: "Baldur's Gate 3 apparently was supposed to have a halfling werewolf bard named Helia. Audio recordings were found in the data that are believed to belong to Helia, who was cut some time ago. I would love to have a werewolf companion and would enjoy playing as both a werewolf and vampire myself."

Helia was initially discovered by data miners during the early access phase of the game. Before the game was fully released, Larian Studios also revealed Karlach, who was also discovered through data mining, and teased a final origin character who would appear with the game's release. Fans believed that this would be the long-awaited Helia, but it turned out to be the Dark Hunger instead. Since she was cut, not only do we not have a werewolf companion in our party, but we also don't have a bard unless you change the specialization of your group members.

Interestingly, Helia even had voiced dialogues, indicating that she was cast at some point. It is unclear how much was recorded or how far along the development was, but many fans would like to see her in a Director's Cut version of Baldur's Gate 3 or future DLCs.

However, Larian Studios has made it clear that they have no plans for an expansion and have already started working on their next project, whatever that may be. Perhaps there will be a Director's Cut version in the future, but for now, Helia remains on the cutting room floor.

It would have been interesting to see a werewolf and a vampire in the camp, recreating Twilight while forming a love triangle with both of them. Astarion sulking grumpily as you spend the night with Helia, and the two fans turning to each other in disappointment.

As it stands currently, if you want to have a werewolf to spice things up, you'll have to turn to modders who have already added potions and passive shapeshifting abilities so that you can embrace lycanthropy.
