Baldur's Gate 3: How to Destroy Cracked Walls

In Baldur's Gate 3, there are numerous hidden treasures, although some of them are difficult to access. Furthermore, there are doors and barriers that can impede your progress and keep you trapped unless you overcome them. Breaking through requires considerable efforts, yet even your mightiest character may inflict little to no damage when resilience is required.

If you discover that an object possesses a certain level of resilience, you may not be precisely aware of what this entails. Sure, the wall appears sturdy, but why can't Karlach tear it down despite having a visible hit point bar? That's because the tiers of resilience can be intricate and easily overlooked while exploring the Sword Coast.

What Is Toughness?Cracked Wall in Baldur's Gate 3

Resilience, essentially, refers to the amount of damage that must be inflicted at once in order to cause any harm at all. If the threshold is set at ten and you roll a nine, no damage will be inflicted whatsoever. However, if you roll a ten, all ten points of damage will be dealt.

There are also various levels of resilience. Some are easier to overcome than others, but each one presents multiple resistances to consider when attempting to break through them.

How To Break Sturdy, Medium, And Greater Toughness

Baldur

The three types of resilience found in the world are Robustness, Moderate Resilience, and Great Resilience. These increase incrementally and can already be encountered in the first act.

You will discover that treasures can be hidden behind cracked walls or that you can destroy stronger traps, such as the gargoyles, instead of disarming them.

Sturdy Toughness

You will come to realize that treasures can be concealed behind cracked walls, or that you have the ability to destroy more formidable traps, such as the gargoyles, rather than merely disabling them.

Instead, you should utilize blunt forms of damage such as hammer strikes or the use of a pickaxe. Keep such an item readily available as you explore. Equip your strongest character with it and have them vigorously strike at it. The cracked walls will crumble in no time.

Medium Toughness

The condition for moderate resilience is somewhat more challenging to attain. In order to inflict any damage, you must achieve a total of 22 hit points or more to successfully reduce the health bar. This can be difficult in the early stages of the game, but as your characters level up and acquire better equipment, it becomes easier.

Objects with moderate resilience include gates designed to keep enemies at bay. While traversing the Underdark and utilizing the secret passage from True Soul Gut in the Goblin Camp, you may notice a Minotaur pushing against the gate at the Selunite Outpost. This demonstrates the robustness of the gates, as the Minotaur is unable to tear it down before being subdued.

Greater Toughness

Perhaps the most formidable of all, greater resilience requires 50 hit points of damage at once to even take any damage. These objects are incredibly difficult to destroy, if not impossible, in the early stages of the game. Among such objects are the gargoyle statues and traps you will encounter in your adventures.

If the object has a weak point, you can often gradually reduce its health, although it may take a while. It is better to use items and potions that grant you more strength, enabling you to break through it.
