Baldur's Gate 3: How to Divide Your Party and When to Use It

Baldur's Gate 3 is a popular new game that has just been released for the PS5 console. It was initially launched for the PC, and now even more people can enjoy this fantastic game based on Dungeons & Dragons. It is highly likely that more players will join in once the game becomes available for Xbox as well.

The game is not lacking in content. It also grants the player a great deal of freedom when it comes to approaching various challenges. Most of the challenges presented by the game can be overcome in more than one way. Mastering the art of dividing characters can prove highly beneficial for players as they progress in the game.

How To Split Your Party

Dividing the group is not an essential skill that one must master in Baldur's Gate 3, but it can certainly prove useful in certain situations.

Currently, Baldur's Gate 3 is available for PC and PlayStation 5. To divide the player's group on PC, the player needs to click on the companion portraits and drag the portrait away from the others. This action will separate the group.

For the PS5, the player needs to press L2 and then press the Triangle button. Afterward, the player can simply click on the characters they wish to unite or separate.

Why To Split Your Party

Baldur

After learning how to divide their group members, one might wonder why anyone would even consider doing so in the first place.

The primary use of this option is to separate group members before combat. This allows units to be positioned optimally based on the battle conditions. In this way, the player can effectively engage enemies. However, players should exercise caution when doing so, as they do not want certain characters to be left alone and vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Dividing the group can also serve other purposes, such as luring enemies into an ambush by sending a single character ahead. If one wishes to move forward cautiously and perhaps execute a surprise attack, it is better for the player to send the stealthiest character from the group.

How To Put The Party Back Together

If the player wants to reunite their group members after completing a battle or mission, they simply need to press the G key when playing on PC.

If the player is playing on the PS5, they need to press L2 and then Square to reunite their group members.

Group members will not fully reunite if one or more characters are in an area where they cannot join them. Players must first move them to another area for them to reunite properly.

Baldur's Gate 3 is playable on PC and PlayStation 5.
