Baldur's Gate 3: How to Stop the Battle Between Lae'zel and Shadowheart

In Baldur's Gate 3, dramatic situations often arise among the group members. After recruiting Wyll and Karlach, they experience a tense moment in which one of them must decide whether to kill the other. Fortunately, you can assist in resolving this issue rather effortlessly.

There is a battle that is not so easily brought to an end. One evening, as you return to the camp, you discover Lae'zel and Shadowheart engaged in a dispute over an artifact. On one hand, it appears to belong to the Githyanki, but on the other hand, it protects you and everyone else from being controlled by a deity. It is possible to peacefully resolve the conflict - it all depends on the luck of the dice.

Triggering The Fight

Baldur

When you invite Lae'zel to join your group, she insists that you find a creche to resolve your issue with the Mindflayer tadpole. In pursuit of this quest, you will ultimately encounter a Githyanki patrol. If Lae'zel is with you, she will run off to greet them. As you engage in the conversation, you learn that the Githyanki are searching for the artifact you possess.

Regardless of how you conclude this encounter, you will eventually reach the mountain pass where you can find the creche that Lae'zel is seeking. From this point onward, when you rest, there is a possibility that you will return to the camp and find Shadowheart and Lae'zel engaged in a dispute over the artifact.

The Beginning Of The Fight

Baldur

Lae'zel demands that Shadowheart relinquish the artifact as it belongs to her people. However, Shadowheart is reluctant to give it up as she is on a mission to bring it to Baldur's Gate. Furthermore, it safeguards everyone from the influence of the Absolute.

In this initial disagreement, no dice rolls are involved. You can take sides or tell both of them to go to sleep. Either way, Lae'zel will mention that they will duel for the artifact the next morning. However, it turns out that Shadowheart cannot wait that long.

How To Stop Shadowheart's And Lae'zel's Fight

Baldur

During that night, you will awaken to witness Shadowheart holding a knife to Lae'zel's throat. After witnessing the incident, you will have to make a decision.

Choice

Outcome

Do nothing.

This will result in Shadowheart slitting Lae'zel's throat.

Make a DC 10 Persuasion roll to talk Shadowheart down.

If you're successful, the fight will stop.

Attack Shadowheart

Shadowheart will become hostile, and you'll have to kill her.

If you fail the persuasion check, Shadowheart will kill Lae'zel. Although you cannot persuade Shadowheart to assist you in this encounter, as a cleric, you may consider bolstering yourself with guidance or utilizing another form of reinforcement to gain an advantage. The chances of success may be slim, but one can never be too cautious.

When you speak with Shadowheart and Lae'zel the next morning, they will inform you that there will be no further fight for the time being. The tensions between them may still be somewhat high, but when have they ever been able to get along well with each other?
