Baldur's Gate 3: The 8 Best Arrows

Baldur's Gate 3 allows you to enhance your ranged attacks with unique arrows that have various effects and uses. These range from attacks against multiple enemies to elemental damage and effects that don't directly cause damage.

Although there are more than a dozen unique types of arrows, not all of them are equally useful, and some are even used for fun, like the Arrow of Prancing. To help you decide which arrows to keep and which are the most valuable, here are the best ones for your archer's quiver.

8 Arrow Of Transposition

Baldur

The Arrow of Transportation behaves similarly to the spell Misty Step, as it can teleport you to any location within your line of sight and on which you can fire an arrow. However, unlike the Misty Step spell, this arrow has superior range. You can use it by shooting it through barred gates or through walls of fire to grant your martial characters access to areas they would otherwise have difficulty reaching.

Additionally, you can hide before taking the shot and remain concealed after teleportation, allowing you to set up critical ambushes or stealthily escape or infiltrate difficult situations. The only downside of this arrow is that it doesn't cause any damage, but it allows you to move right in front of the face of an archer who is out of your range for a leap.

7 Smokepowder Arrow

Baldur

The Smoke Powder Arrow has the highest damage potential of all arrows in most situations, especially against grouped enemies, as it is essentially nothing more than a bomb attached to an arrow. There are very few situations where you would prefer a regular arrow over this one, especially considering that it can cause up to 48 damage to multiple enemies.

You can also use this arrow to ignite flammable surfaces and barrels, causing even more damage through the resulting explosion. This is particularly effective when used in combination with grease from spells or bottles to create your own traps or explosive combinations.

6 Arrow Of Acid

Baldur

The Acid Arrow is similar to the Fire Arrow, as it causes the same damage in the same radius, but leaves an acid puddle on the ground after each shot. This acid puddle covers your enemies and reduces their armor class.

This arrow is perfect against heavily armored enemies or creatures that naturally have a high armor class, such as the Steel Sentinel, to make all attacks from your group more likely to hit. You can even use it against acid-resistant enemies and trigger the effect if you don't mind dealing less damage.

5 Arrow Of Many Targets

Baldur

The Arrow of Many Targets is one of the best arrows for dealing with large groups of enemies that are not closely clustered together, as is the case with Fire or Acid Arrows. The game treats each target as a separate weapon attack, allowing you to trigger class and magical item abilities multiple times.

Although the other targets only receive half damage, the initial damage to the first target remains unchanged, and the half damage allows you to take out weakly armored enemies and prevent them from using their turn to deal damage to your group. This arrow is one that you will likely use in every battle if you have the opportunity to do so.

4 Arrow Of Roaring Thunder

Baldur

Despite its simple description, the Arrow of Thunderous Thunder is more useful than it may initially seem. The most obvious use case for this arrow is to knock enemies off ledges, as it can result in certain enemies being killed outright.

Alternatively, you can use this arrow, especially with characters who have the ability to make multiple attacks, to move enemies in groups or in a line, allowing you to cast spells that would otherwise miss enemies outside the spell's range. It still allows you to make weapon attacks and trigger class abilities without wasting a bonus action for pushing, all while setting up perfect Fireball scenarios.

3 Arrow Of Piercing

Baldur

The Arrow of Penetration is similar to the Arrow of Many Targets but shoots through enemies in a line until it hits a solid object. This allows you to bypass the maximum range of your bow, as it can extend beyond the limit by penetrating through enemies.

Although the Arrow of Penetration is more situational than the Arrow of Many Targets, both allow you to use either one in any battle with multiple enemies. The only issue with the Arrow of Penetration is that you will only find it in Act Three, as it is rare despite having the same effect as the Arrow of Many Targets, as it has the potential to hit more than four targets.

2 Arrow Of Humanoid Slaying

Baldur

Of all the arrows with creature types, the Arrow of Humanoid Slaying is the strongest simply because Humanoid is the most common enemy type in the game, alongside Undead.

You can play around with the effects of these arrows because instead of vulnerability, they simply double the damage from the bow you are using. If you use the Branding Amulet, you can grant vulnerability to a creature and quadruple the damage of these arrows, giving them the highest damage potential of all arrows.

1 Arrow Of Arcane Interference

The Arrow of Arcane Disruption is the best tool against spellcasters, even better than the Silence spell. What makes it particularly useful is that it automatically disrupts concentration upon hitting, which would normally require a concentration check in almost any other situation, except when casting Ice Storm, which does not silence the target.

You can even use this arrow preemptively if you don't want your target to cast spells before its turn, effectively excluding it from the fight. It is the only tool you need against boss enemies like Lorroakan, as the arrow also deals damage and triggers class and ability features.
