Blasphemous 2 How to Defeat Embodied Devotion

With the penultimate boss, which presents such a challenging and rewarding encounter, we would be lying if we said that "Incarnate Devotion" is the best conclusion for Blasphemous 2, especially since this is the boss you will face in both Ending A and Ending B, without any differences between the two.

Anyway, we have to work with it, and it's as standard as it can be. It allows you, after being beaten down by Eviterno for several hours and pondering whether these games are even for you, to regain some self-confidence... Anyway...

How To Beat Incarnate Devotion

Blasphemous 2 How To Beat Incarnate Devotion

Since "Incarnate Devotion" is the final boss encounter of Blasphemous 2, it doesn't offer any rewards, allowing us to jump straight into the guide. As mentioned before, this encounter is much more straightforward than most others in the game.

"Incarnate Devotion" has only eight attacks that it will cycle through in a mostly predictable manner. This allows you to take advantage of the situation and initiate the closing moments of your long-fought journey!

Ground: Beams One

Blasphemous 2 How To Beat Incarnate

Our first four attacks take place on the ground, with the fist almost always consisting of two beams of light traveling across the ground. The first wave of light beams starts in the middle of the stage and then moves outward towards you.

To dodge these light beams, simply jump towards the beam closest to you and perform an air dash to avoid taking damage. After the air dash, you can start attacking the heart of "Incarnate Devotion" to reduce its health!

Ground: Beams Two

Blasphemous 2 How To Beat

His next attack will likely also involve two light beams. However, this time they will start at the edges of the arena before moving towards the center, passing through it, and reaching the opposite side. It's a bit trickier to dodge them.

To deal with this version of the light beams, jump towards the beam closest to you, perform an air dash, and then wait until the second light beam passes through the center and approaches you. Then, jump towards it and perform an air dash to avoid any damage.

After dodging the second light beam, you can start attacking the heart of "Incarnate Devotion" to inflict even more damage!

Ground: Explosions

After that, he follows up with ground explosions, where "Incarnate Devotion" summons multiple orbs on the ground before detonating them. The explosions start on the side where the first orb appeared and then move in ascending order.

Position yourself near the center of the arena and as soon as you see the first orb about to explode, perform a double jump and execute an air dash towards its direction. This will cause you to fall into the now empty space and avoid any damage.

Once you have landed, you can use the Prayer of the Bleeding Miracle to inflict damage from a safe distance until enough orbs explode and clear a path for you to safely use your weapon!

Ground: The Floor Is Lava

Blasphemous 2 How

From here, we will prepare for the airborne phase of the encounter, where "Incarnate Devotion" sets the ground on fire and conveniently spawns four platforms above you that you can jump onto to avoid damage. Jump onto one of the platforms to handle this mechanic!

Air: Beams One

Blasphemous 2

Once you're in the air, "Incarnate Devotion" will... use the same attacks as before and only add one new attack. So, first of all, there are the light beams, which are handled just like before, except that the area is now much smaller.

The first set of light beams starts in the middle of the stage and then moves outward. Once you see the light beams appearing in the middle, jump onto one of the outer platforms and wait for the light beam to approach you. Once it is close enough, jump towards it and then perform an air dash to pass through it.

As before, after passing through the light beam, you can start attacking "Incarnate Devotion" to decrease its health!

Air: Beams Two

Blasphemous

After that, the other light beams come into play, starting from the edges of the stage and eventually converging in the middle, passing through it, and then reaching the opposite side of the stage.

Once you see the light beams appearing at the outer edge of the stage, jump onto one of the innermost platforms, then jump towards the light beam closest to you and perform an air dash. Then, wait for the other light beam and do the same to execute attacks on "Incarnate Devotion" after dodging the second light beam!

Air: Explosions

After that, the exploding orbs follow the same strategy as before. "Incarnate Devotion" summons multiple orbs beneath the floating platforms before they explode one after another. They explode in the order they were placed, so pay attention to where the first one lands.

Once you see the first orb land, position yourself on the top platform on the opposite side and wait for it to explode. After the first orb explodes, perform a double jump through the middle of the stage and then execute an air dash towards the platform on the other side to avoid any damage.

From here, wait until the explosion clears a path to "Incarnate Devotion," then move towards it and start attacking him until he initiates his next attack!

Air: Flowers

Next comes his new attack, where he summons four flowers around him that periodically spit out light orbs. His heart will be protected during this time until you destroy the flowers, so make them your top priority.

Destroy the bottom flower closest to you, then move to the one above it. After destroying that one, perform a double jump over the middle of the stage and then execute an air dash towards the top flower on the opposite side. Destroy that one, and then move to the flower below it and take it out.

You need to act quickly here, as the flowers will respawn if you take too long. However, the strategy mentioned above allows you the most direct and fastest way to reach all the flowers!

Ground: Feather Barrage

After you have destroyed the flowers, the heart of "Embodied Devotion" will be exposed and the platforms will disappear. From here, he will launch his final new attack, his hail of feathers.

This attack will temporarily show you the outlines of where the feathers will land, giving you a brief period of time to reposition yourself and avoid damage. He will unleash two to three waves of feathers at you. You simply need to continuously reposition yourself between the feathers to overcome this mechanic.

Although you can deal damage to him here, we advise against it because the timing is very tight, and he immediately transitions to his other attacks after this one!

Repeat

After completing the Hail of Feathers phase of the encounter, "Embodied Devotion" will repeat the same steps as before, as follows:

  • Ground Attacks
    • Always ending with The Floor Is Lava
  • Aerial Attacks
    • Always Ending with Flowers/Feather Barrage
  • Repeat

This cycle will repeat until you defeat "Embodied Devotion." While the attacks between "The Floor is Lava" and the flowers are random, they always consist of the same selection of attacks that are handled in the same way as before!
