Blasphemous 2 How to Defeat Odón of the Brotherhood of Salt

Blasphemous 2 entails a considerable number of excruciating and intense encounters with boss adversaries, most of whom exhibit multiple phases and unforeseen twists in their attack patterns. This complicates the process of adapting and formulating a solid strategy to overcome them.

However, there are also bosses like Odón of the Brotherhood of Salt who possess a well-defined plan and adhere to it throughout the entire encounter. Although the battle is challenging, Odón lacks tricks or multiple phases. They simply possess a formidable arsenal of attacks that subtly evolve over time. It is exceedingly captivating and impressive to discover the most effective ways to counter their onslaught!

As mentioned before, Odón of the Brotherhood of Salt has only one phase but a lengthy list of maneuvers within that phase, compelling you to learn how to adapt and counter his attacks. While he may amplify some of his actions, it is not sufficient to be regarded as an additional phase, as the remainder of his repertoire remains unchanged.

In this single phase, you will be constantly engaged in learning how to dodge his incoming attacks, target his minions, and determine the opportune moments to strike back. In the following sections, you can familiarize yourself with his impressive repertoire of 11 actions and learn how to handle them appropriately!

Plunging Spear

The first attack that Odón is likely to execute each time is his diving lance attack. He leaps high into the air, disappearing from sight, only to come crashing down with tremendous force, wielding his lance and generating a high spray of water on both sides of him.

To avoid taking damage here, wait until he disappears from the screen, then quickly dodge to the right or left just before his landing, and subsequently perform a double jump over the waves. Once you land, you should be able to land a few hits on him. Seize this opportunity to diminish his health!

Backspin Slash

Next in his repertoire, we have the backward swing, where he firmly plants his legs and swiftly rotates his upper body towards you, delivering a devastating strike infused with water. This attack is rare but highly damaging, so you should always be vigilant when standing behind him.

Whenever you observe him halting his movement and raising his lance upwards, perform a double jump and an aerial thrust in front of him to dodge the strike and land multiple hits on him before he transitions to the next action.

Summoning Minions

Blasphemous 2 How To Beat Odón Of

Throughout the entire encounter, Odón will summon spear minions, initially a pair of them. If you kill both spear minions, he will summon another wave. Therefore, we recommend keeping one of them alive at the beginning to avoid having to deal with both simultaneously.

These are the same spear minions you have encountered on your way to this boss encounter, so it's nothing new for you. However, it can quickly become complicated to deal with both them and Odón simultaneously. Nevertheless, at the beginning of this battle, they are mostly ineffective!

Ground Spears

Blasphemous 2 How To Beat Odón

Next up are his ground spears, where Odón raises his lance high in the air and summons arms of spear minions from the ground, forming a sea of spears to his left and right.

To evade this attack, perform a double jump as soon as you see Odón raise his lance in the air, and then execute an aerial thrust towards the corner that is closest to you. In the early stages of this battle, they will not move, allowing you to easily dodge them by moving to the opposite end of the arena!

Standard Stab

Another rare attack from Odón is his thrust, which is exactly what it sounds like. He takes a step forward and then thrusts his lance forward, dealing considerable damage to you upon contact.

During this attack, you will witness him lowering his lance and taking a significant step forward before executing a powerful thrust. This gives you more than enough time to perform a double jump and leap over him, landing behind him and allowing you to land a few hits on him yourself!

Charged Slash

Blasphemous 2 How To

This next attack is somewhat more common but not used as frequently as some of his other actions. Nonetheless, his charged strike is a highly damaging attack where Odón drags his lance along the ground and then executes a devastating thrusting attack infused with water.

As soon as you see him dragging his lance along the ground, perform a double jump and then thrust over him to go on the offensive for a brief period until he recovers!

Wave Projectile

Blasphemous 2 How

Next up is his wave projectile attack, where he hurls a substantial water wave towards you that spans almost 3/4 of the level before dissipating. This action is well telegraphed as Odón halts his movement and hurls his lance forward from the ground to generate the wave.

As with most other attacks, you can completely avoid taking damage from the wave projectile by performing a double jump and an aerial thrust. This will position you directly in front of Odón, allowing you to land a few strikes against him!

Enhanced Waves

Blasphemous 2

After you have reduced Odón's health by half, his wave projectile attack will be enhanced. He will now unleash two waves, one to the right and the other to the left. This will be signaled when Odón turns his back to the screen and reveals his red cape.

Dodging these wave projectiles is done in the same way as before. You just need to be even more attentive to your surroundings, as he can now unleash them much faster than before!

Enhanced Ground Spears

Blasphemous

Another attack from Odón that gets enhanced throughout the encounter is his ground spears. When you reduce his health by half, he will summon two waves of ground spears towards you, forcing you to time your jumps and aerial maneuvers accordingly to dodge both of them.

After reducing his health to 3/4, he will unleash three waves of ground spears towards you, making the window for dodging much narrower. However, by performing a jump and an aerial maneuver, you can completely evade them!

Enhanced Summoning Minions

In relation to enhanced attacks, we have the action called "Summoning Minions." During the encounter, Odón will summon more and more spear minions.

When his health is reduced by half, he will summon three spear minions instead of two, and when his health is approximately three-quarters depleted, he will summon four of them. Once you reach this section of the encounter, we recommend taking them out as quickly as possible, as it takes some time for him to summon the next wave.

You can also try leaving one of them alive here, but it will become chaotic, and your focus will be scattered. Therefore, we strongly recommend fully eliminating them every time they appear!

Rallying Call

Lastly, when Odón's health reaches approximately three-quarters, he will acquire a new action called "Rallying Call." He will raise a large flag of water high into the air. Although this action may not seem to have much effect, you should focus on hitting him when you see him raise it.

Odón's "Rallying Call" causes him to place shields around the summoned spear minions in the arena, allowing them to withstand a considerable amount of damage before dying. Fortunately, if you hit him as soon as you see him raise the water flag, you will interrupt the action and prevent this from happening.

However, if Odón successfully executes this action, your task will become more challenging as you will need to inflict significant damage to eliminate the spear minions. If Odón's health is low at this point, we recommend going for the finishing blow if possible!
