Although Borderlands 3 is nearly four years old, Gearbox Software has bestowed upon it a fresh update, introducing new customization options and cosmetic items to delight the players.
The update was released simultaneously with the launch of Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box, a compilation encompassing the core trilogy, The Pre-Sequel, and both Tales from the Borderlands games.
The update encompasses new heads, skins, weapon trinkets for the Vault Hunters, as well as a global weapon ornamentation. Additionally, it includes previously hard-to-obtain cosmetic items in the Crazy Earl's shop.
Despite Borderlands 3 being almost four years old, Gearbox Software has not been deterred from releasing a brand-new update for this popular looter-shooter game. Gearbox introduced Borderlands 3 to the market four years ago, receiving predominantly positive reviews. Since then, they have been supporting the game with fresh content, bug fixes, balance adjustments, and paid DLCs.
The support for Borderlands 3 following its launch was quite extensive, but it has noticeably slowed down in recent times. The last major update for Borderlands 3 was released in June 2022, addressing some existing issues and adding support for cross-play between PS4 and PS5 consoles. Now, Gearbox has released another update for Borderlands 3, which fans can now download on all platforms.
The new update for Borderlands 3 introduces four new heads for the Vault Hunters, four new skins for the Vault Hunters, four new weapon trinkets, and a new global weapon skin. Additionally, some hard-to-obtain cosmetic items have been added to Crazy Earl's shop, which should significantly facilitate Borderlands 3 players in completing their cosmetic collections. Furthermore, the SHiFT menu has been updated, some Eridian writings have been adjusted, a bug with the Pain Freeze symbol has been fixed, the weapon trinket Fright Light now shines brighter, the credits and acknowledgments section has been updated, minor UI corrections have been made, and various other bugs have been addressed. It remains unclear whether this will be the final update for Borderlands 3, but if it is, it concludes with a bang.
Some Borderlands fans might wonder why the decision was made to update Borderlands 3 years after the regular support for the game. It turns out that the update was released simultaneously with the launch of Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box, an extensive new collection of Borderlands games that brings together the core trilogy, The Pre-Sequel, and both Tales from the Borderlands games in one package. All DLCs from the Borderlands series are also included in the collection.
Individuals interested in acquiring Borderlands Collection: Pandora's Box should take note that the collection is currently being sold for $60, but will later be raised to $150. Players who already own some of the games included in the collection can also purchase the remaining ones at a discounted price during the ongoing promotion.
