Currencies in Mortal Kombat 1, explained

As has become customary in both the previous and current generation of fighting games, Mortal Kombat 1 features more than one currency. In fact, there are quite a few, and it can be confusing to discern which ones to collect and which coins can be acquired solely through winning fights.

Hopefully, this guide will assist you in comprehending each of the available currencies in Mortal Kombat 1, what you can purchase with them, and how you can become a wealthy fighter who possesses everything you need and desire. Let's go after those Koins!

How Many Currencies Are In Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 Currencies, Explained

In Mortal Kombat 1, there are four different types of currency that you can earn: Koins, Seasonal Credits, Dragon Crystals, and Crowns. You can obtain almost all of them by simply playing the game (even by losing fights!), but one is exclusive to a specific mode, and another can only be acquired through real money purchases.

Koins

Koins serve as your primary income. You acquire them by engaging in ladder mode battles, playing against other players online, participating in fights, discovering chests in conquest mode, completing tutorials, and fulfilling daily challenges.

For instance, the entry tasks grant you 250 Koins. Completing the basic tutorial (first section) will reward you with 1,250 Koins.

You can utilize these at the Shrine, which grants you a random collectible for every 1,000 Koins donated.

While you can obtain skins, equipment, and more at the Shrine, please note that it is highly likely to receive consecutive concept art pieces since there are numerous ones to unlock.

Seasonal Kredits

Mortal Kombat 1

Seasonal Credits are exclusively used to purchase items in the Seasonal Shop. This marketplace offers multiple skins and individual pieces of equipment for all available characters.

The first season, the Season of the Spectrum, will last until November 1, 2023.

To earn seasonal credits, you need to engage in battles in conquest mode, ladder mode, or multiplayer mode. You earn this currency regardless of whether you win or lose, but the amount you earn will vary based on this and other factors, such as whether you performed a finisher, a fatal blow, and other combat conditions.

In conquest mode, you will receive 100 seasonal credits for a simple victory in battles. If you add a finisher, you will earn 150.

You can also earn these coins by completing daily and weekly quests after you have finished the initial set of available quests.

Krowns

Mortal Kombat

Krowns are a currency exclusive to the conquest mode. You earn them by winning your battles (50 for each victory), and you can only spend them in the shop and forge of this mode. In the shop, you can purchase consumables, and in the forge, you can upgrade your talismans using the components you have found.

Dragon Krystals

Lastly, Dragon Crystals are the currency used for microtransactions. They cost real money, and you can purchase unique skins and equipment that cannot be obtained with in-game currencies.

For reference, 500 Dragon Krystals cost $4,99.
