CD Projekt Red recently added an impressive Ken Block homage to Cyberpunk 2077, as discovered by an attentive fan. This heartfelt Easter Egg is part of the comprehensive 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077, released on September 21st.
Ken Block passed away in early January at the age of 55 in a snowmobile accident. This tragedy ended his successful career, which began with rally racing and evolved into ownership of Hoonigan Industries, a California-based automotive apparel and media company. Due to Block's longstanding collaborations with video game developers, many game developers and players showed their appreciation for the legendary rally driver in various creative ways following the news of his death.
CD Projekt Red has now expanded this list of interactive tributes by designing a car in Cyberpunk 2077 heavily inspired by Ken Block's Hoonigan Ford "Hoonicorn" Mustang RTR, one of the most iconic vehicles he ever drove. The said machine, first discovered by Reddit user hoonyosrs, appears to be a unique variant of the Quadra Type-66 in Cyberpunk 2077. While it is not an exact replica of the Hoonicorn, likely due to licensing reasons, its overall design is immediately reminiscent of the iconic rally car, not least because of its black and green color palette and the shape of the chassis.
The same applies to the numerous advertisements attached to the side of the vehicle, as well as the prominently placed "43" sticker that corresponds to Block's vehicle number. On the right side of this number is the slogan "K.B. 67-23," which refers to the birth and death years of the rally driver. The vehicle itself is called Type 66 Hoon, and the discoverer reports finding it in a warehouse in Northside while completing the side quest "Epistrophy." In this quest, V helps Delamain locate a series of rebellious AI taxis.
Nevertheless, early player reports indicate that the Type 66 Hoon can be found at this location regardless of missions after the 2.0 update was released. Furthermore, the car is not only drivable but also available for purchase. To add it to V's garage, Cyberpunk 2077 players simply need to find the keys, which are hidden in a box under a tilted plate located in close proximity to the vehicle.
This heartfelt addition to Cyberpunk 2077 is the game developer's first tribute to the legendary rally driver since Forza Horizon 5 in January, where Ken Block was honored with a variety of Hoonigan-branded gear and a drivable version of the Hoonicorn. The car itself is also the eighth variant of the Quadra Type-66, now available in the popular RPG.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, while the 2.0 update is exclusively available for PC and the current console generations.
