Dead by Daylight developer says "Never say never" to Five Nights at Freddy's crossover

After years of speculation among players as to whether Five Nights at Freddy's could ever appear in Dead by Daylight, a developer has offered Freddy Fazbear fans a glimmer of hope during a Reddit AMA.

As fantastic as the original killers of Dead by Daylight are (The Legion rises), fans of the game almost always wonder which licensed killer could come next. Among the most popular suggestions are Pennywise from "It," Candyman from, well, "Candyman," and Jason Voorhees from "Friday the 13th." However, there is a shared desire that is somewhat controversial - Freddy Fazbear from "Five Nights at Freddy's."

Despite originating from one of the most beloved horror games of all time, fans of Dead by Daylight always seem to be somewhat divided on whether Five Nights would fit into the DBD universe and if it's even a possibility, especially considering the limited number of crossovers the series has had thus far. Nevertheless, there are numerous requests for the killer animatronics, and these requests will only increase as the film is set to be released next month.

It appears that not only Dead by Daylight players have an interest in seeing the Five Nights at Freddy's gang in the game. As highlighted by Redditor ninjabsbx in the Dead by Daylight subreddit, the development team of DBD at Behaviour Interactive recently participated in a Reddit AMA, where they answered a variety of questions from the game's fans.

One such question came from Redditor NasserMX, who asked, "Will Five Nights at Freddy's ever be in Dead by Daylight in the near future?" This question received a response from Dave Richard, the creative director of Dead by Daylight, which stated, "Never say never!" It is a rather simple and brief answer, but it demonstrates that the development team does not exclude the possibility of Freddy Fazbear (or Springtrap, as many fans have desired) joining the game in the future.

While it may be a brief answer, it is worth mentioning that many of the responses from Behaviour Interactive developers in the AMA are actually very honest and direct. They do not sugarcoat their words, even when the answer may not be what the player asking the question wants to hear. This lends more credibility to the possibility of adding FNAF content to the game, as the developers likely would have simply said "no" if that were the case.

That being said, the answer gives the impression that currently no Five Nights at Freddy's content is being created for the game and that this is something that may be worked on in the future. The developers probably won't simply reveal it in a Reddit AMA, but it's worth keeping expectations in check if you're eager to see killer animatronics in Dead by Daylight.
