The itemization system of Diablo 4 is capable of generating exciting loot, as demonstrated by a unique weapon for the Wizard class.

In Diablo 4, Wizards now have more viable endgame options, allowing for a variety of builds and improved gameplay.

The Oculus, a unique staff introduced in Diablo 4, significantly enhances the "Teleport" ability for Wizards, thereby altering the player experience by offering an unconventional approach to Wizard gameplay.

While not everyone is satisfied with the current itemization in Diablo 4, a recently introduced unique weapon for Wizards proves that the system is indeed capable of generating exciting loot. Wizards in Diablo 4 are still recovering from the significant nerfs applied to them during the open beta, but thanks to the changes introduced during Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant, the variety of builds for the iconic Wizard class in Diablo is steadily increasing.

From Chain Lightning and Charged Bolts to the Firewall build, players in Diablo 4 can finally enjoy more viable endgame options, rather than relying solely on Frozen Orb to deal significant damage. Although the excessive reliance on defensive abilities like Flame Shield, Frost Nova, and Teleport is still considered problematic, most players cannot deny that Wizards are now in a much better state than they were at launch.

One of the innovations introduced in the first season of Diablo 4 was The Oculus, a unique staff that initially received mockery from many fans when it was announced. It provided Wizards with the Teleport enhancement for free, but the drawback of teleporting players to a random location when dodging was criticized for negating an interesting concept. However, The Oculus, shared by c3rolling on the official Diablo 4 subreddit, offers such a significant boost to Teleport ranks that the need for dodging becomes completely meaningless.

That being said, unless a Wizard is tackling high-level Nightmare dungeons in Diablo 4, they will rarely be seriously endangered when using The Oculus' random dodging. With +3 dodging charges and +15 Teleport ranks, this item transforms the Wizard experience in Diablo 4 into that of the Sorceress from Diablo 2. The ability to spam Teleport at will, without cooldown and with reasonable damage, has earned The Oculus a special place in the hearts of many Wizard players in Diablo 4.

What prevents The Oculus from becoming an overpowered unique item in Diablo 4 is the simple fact that it emphasizes utility over damage, as it lacks offensive statistics. Although Diablo 4's Season of Blood has promised many corrections to the game's itemization, it is highly likely that The Oculus will remain unchanged in its current form. Currently, it is a niche weapon, but also an extremely effective choice for players seeking an unconventional approach to Wizard gameplay.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
