Everyone who has played multiple Final Fantasy games has their own personal favorite choice, and whether you like it or not, Final Fantasy 7 is generally the game that most people prefer from the series. Final Fantasy 7 holds great significance for the entire Final Fantasy franchise, as it has not only been remade but has also spawned several spin-offs, with two of its characters even making their way into the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The love for Final Fantasy 7 continues in 2024 as "Rebirth," the sequel to the 2020 remake, makes its way to the PS5. As an exclusive title for PlayStation, just like the first game, which has been confirmed as the start of a trilogy, it now has a solid release date. Concluding the State of Play event in September 2023, PlayStation had the honor of confirming that Cloud's redesigned journey will continue on February 29, 2024. With a release date in place, pre-orders for "Rebirth" are now open, offering you three options to choose from if you wish to secure your copy before February 29.
Regardless of where you place your pre-order, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will cost $70. This comes as no surprise, as it will not only be a substantial game but also the first PS5 title to be divided into two discs. Presumably, this is to ensure that no downloads are necessary and the entire game can be accommodated on the discs. This is appreciated by those who wish to acquire a physical copy and also serves as a nostalgic nod to the original game on the PS1, which was also divided across multiple discs.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

It continues the story of Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER turned mercenary who joins Avalanche, a group of eco-terrorists seeking to save the planet from the malevolent Sephiroth. You can place a pre-order for the Standard Edition of Rebirth through any of the links mentioned above. However, if you desire something extra from your Rebirth experience and wish to order either the Deluxe or Collector's Edition, you will need to proceed to the official Square Enix website using the links provided below. Whatever your plans may be, with Rebirth now confirmed to release before March, it will be one of the first games we all get to play in 2024, alongside titles such as Tekken 8, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and perhaps Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. The latest game from Rocksteady is set to release in February 2024, unless further delays occur.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Although it is a direct sequel and once again the second installment of a planned trilogy, Square Enix claims that one does not need to have played Remake in order to understand Rebirth. However, considering the numerous changes Square has made to the original 1997 game and their continued tinkering with the timeline, I am not entirely certain how advisable that is. Remake is now available on PS4, PS5, and PC, so if you can find the time amidst the busy final months of 2023, I recommend playing it before 2024.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Collector's EditionThe past (almost) four years since Remae have ticked past incredibly slowly and you want everything possible from Rebirth, it might be worth looking at the Collector's Edition. An awful lot of money, but just look at that Sephiroth statue.

PlayStation actually offers a rather fantastic deal for those of you who haven't played Remake yet, with the Twin-Pack offer, despite claims that one can also play Rebirth without the previous game. The Final Fantasy 7 Twin-Pack is currently priced at $70 in the PlayStation Store. This effectively means that you receive Remake for free since it carries the same price as pre-ordering the Standard Edition of Rebirth. You can also start playing Remake as soon as you acquire the Twin-Pack, and you can do so through the link provided below.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake And Rebirth Twin Pack
Twin PackFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on February 29, 2024, and will build on the first part of the story told in Remake. PlayStation is now selling Remake and Rebirth together as a twin pack so you can be fully caught up on the story so far ahead of the third and final part of the trilogy.
FAQ
Will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Be The Final Game In The Series?
No, Square Enix has already confirmed that the Final Fantasy 7 Remakes will be a trilogy, so there will be another game after Rebirth.
Should I Play Final Fantasy 7 Remake Before Rebirth?
Square Enix claims that one does not need to have played Remake in order to understand Rebirth, but I am somewhat skeptical about that. I have played Remake myself, and even I am a bit confused about what has been shown to us so far regarding Rebirth.
