Fortnite: How to farm gold quickly

Some time ago, Fortnite introduced its players to the concept of gold, an in-game resource that they could use to acquire services from NPCs, reroll augments, and purchase items from vending machines. Everyone has access to gold, but it cannot be bought – it must be earned.

A item added in Chapter 4, Season 4 made it significantly easier for players to collect gold. However, they must first understand how to farm it. Fortunately, this guide shows players how they can easily farm as much gold as they want in Fortnite. This allows them to then use it to purchase tons of useful items and augments.

Shield Breaker EMPs

Fortnite How to Farm Gold Fast

With the release of Hotfix v26.00, Shield Breaker EMPs were added to Fortnite. This item allows players to bypass fortress security by compromising electronic devices. However, there are also other ways they can be used in Fortnite, which makes them so useful for gold farming.

Players can find Shield Breaker EMPs as loot on the ground, as well as in chests and supply drops. They can be found in stacks of three, and players can carry up to six Shield Breaker EMPs per inventory slot. Alternatively, players can also collect a bunch of Shield Breaker EMPs by activating the reality augmentation "High Voltage," as they will immediately receive some Shield Breaker EMPs and get even more when they eliminate enemies.

The various fortresses of the Thrones on the map are the best places to farm Shield Breaker EMPs and consequently gold, as players can find many supply drops as well as low-level guards that can be eliminated after activating the Shield Breaker EMPs augmentation.

How to Farm Gold

Since Shield Breaker EMPs in Fortnite can disable any type of electronic device, they can also deactivate vending machines and allow players to obtain a large amount of gold from them.

Every time a player throws a Shield Breaker EMP at a vending machine, it malfunctions and a stack of gold bars pops out. These stacks can contain up to 150 gold bars, so the rule of thumb is: the more Shield Breaker EMPs the player throws at the vending machine, the more gold they can get their hands on.

As of Update v26.10, this trick still works, but it could be patched in the future as it allows players to effortlessly max out their in-game gold.

Fortnite is available for mobile devices, PCs, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
