Genshin Impact announces details about the events of the second half of Version 4.0

The second half of version 4.0 of Genshin Impact brings a series of new events, including combat challenges and a photo contest in the hydro region of Fontaine.

Two popular five-star characters, Zhongli and Tartaglia, will make a return in the gacha banner, accompanied by a new four-star character named Freminet.

Version 4.1 is already anticipated to introduce two new characters and potentially expand the playable map by adding the Fortress of Meropis in Fontaine. Exciting updates await Genshin Impact players.

HoYoverse provides Genshin Impact players with an idea of what to expect in the second half of version 4.0 by detailing the events that will take place in the coming weeks. The latest update for the highly popular RPG was one of the biggest of the year, introducing players to the vibrant hydro region of Fontaine. Alongside three new characters, the addition of Fontaine brought several new gameplay elements, including the Pneuma and Ousia combat mechanics, as well as underwater areas of the region. Now, a variety of events are on the horizon, starting with the second half of the update.

The first half of Version 4.0 mainly focused on familiarizing players with the latest region of Genshin Impact through its story and events. The Archon Quest of the region presented several important themes of Fontaine, revolving around justice, the judicial system of Fontaine, and the many notable characters of the region. Some of the events in the first half involved players collecting various regional items for rewards, exploring the depths of Fontaine's underwater canyons, and battling against their many new enemies. Now, the second half of Version 4.0 offers everything from combat challenges to a photo event.

The official preview released on Genshin Impact's social media accounts gives players a closer look at the series of events for the second half of Version 4.0. HoYoverse will kick off the second half of the update with the "Verdict of Blades" event on September 4th, plunging players into combat challenges with various rewards, including Primogems. The "Studies in Light and Shadow" event challenges players to capture different scenes in Fontaine using a special camera. The second half of Version 4.0 will also feature an event called "Ley Line Overflow" and a new challenge called "Heated Battle" for Genius Invokation TCG.

The second half of Version 4.0 will welcome two returning five-star characters in Genshin Impact's gacha banner, both of whom are popular among players. HoYoverse had previously confirmed that Version 4.0 would include rerun banners for Zhongli and Tartaglia, starting on September 5th. Zhongli has long been regarded as one of the strongest support characters in Genshin Impact, while Tartaglia plays a significant role in the story of Fontaine. The new rerun banners will also introduce a new four-star character named Freminet, the younger brother of Lyney and Lynette.

As the first update of Genshin Impact's latest region comes to a close in the following weeks, many players are already looking ahead to Version 4.1. HoYoverse has confirmed that with the update to Version 4.1, two new characters will make their debut: Neuvillette, the Chief Magistrate of Fontaine, and Wriothesley, the Administrator of the Fortress of Meropis. There is also strong speculation that the update will bring the first expansion for Fontaine, adding the Fortress of Meropis as a playable area. With new events and characters on the horizon, Genshin Impact players have much to look forward to in the near future.

Genshin Impact is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A version for the Nintendo Switch is currently in development.
