With almost every update, the most and least used Genshin Impact characters change, as new playable units gain popularity when they first appear in the game. Since the game requires players to progress into an entirely new region, characters from that area tend to be more popular among the gaming community.

The Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact is a domain consisting of 12 floors filled with different groups of enemies. It can be seen as a dungeon or tower that players can complete to obtain valuable items such as Primogems and Mora. Players can check which enemies they will encounter on each floor and develop a strategy to emerge victorious. With the update to version 4.0, Genshin Impact introduced new enemies and bosses from the Fontaine region into the Spiral Abyss and changed the buffs that players receive on each floor. For example, they now receive Elemental Mastery and increased Elemental damage on the highest floor.

Reddit user soapz231 has shared a table showcasing the most popular characters of Genshin Impact for the Fontaine version of the Spiral Abyss. Yelan, Bennett, Nahida, Kazuha, and Xingqiu claimed the top spots among all playable units, while Heizou and Chongy found themselves at the bottom of the list. Interestingly, the five-star catalyst user Kokomi is only one spot below Xingqiu. It is worth noting that these usage rates are based on the number of players who own the character.

Compared to the previous version of the Spiral Abyss, there are some changes in the rankings on the list. For example, Bennett from Genshin Impact has moved up to the top tier, unlike other old banners like Xinyan, Amber, and Aloy. The usage rates of some characters are also inflated by the fact that only a small portion of players own their banners.

Genshin Impact places great emphasis on team compositions consisting of four playable units with different abilities. These formations help players tackle a variety of challenges in the game.
