The upcoming third anniversary event and rewards of Genshin Impact have left some fans feeling disappointed, as they perceive the game to be less generous compared to other gacha games.
The relationship between the HoYoverse and Genshin Impact fans regarding the anniversary celebrations has not improved since the first anniversary, as fans continue to express their dissatisfaction and compare it with previous events.
While there are rewards and codes available for players, some fans express a desire for Genshin Impact to be more generous and resemble its predecessor, Honkai Impact 3rd. There are even demands for a free character. Ultimately, the decision lies with the HoYoverse and the players themselves regarding whether they wish to continue investing in the game.
The popular open-world gacha game, Genshin Impact, is approaching its third anniversary on September 28th, but some fans are not thrilled due to the disappointing event and rewards. Genshin Impact, the most successful game from HoYoverse, offers its player base a remarkable gaming experience in a fantastical world that other gacha games have yet to come close to achieving. However, it is not without its flaws.
In contrast to other gacha games that generously reward their players during their anniversaries, Genshin Impact has acquired a reputation for being slightly less generous towards its player base. During Genshin Impact's first anniversary, fans were outraged by the disappointing rewards and events, which they perceived as implicit advertisement for the game rather than being entertaining and rewarding for the players. Many players chose to express their negative emotions by flooding the game with poor ratings. Two years have passed since that initial anniversary, yet the relationship between HoYoverse and Genshin Impact fans regarding anniversary celebrations appears to have changed little.
On September 15th, HoYoverse hosted a Twitch stream discussing the third anniversary event and rewards of Genshin Impact, as well as what will come in version 4.1. The event called "Bathing in the Flowing Moonlight" serves as the third anniversary event. The rewards include 1,600 Primogems, 4 Fragile Resin, a new pet called Tiny Octo-Baby, and a portable, aerodynamic, jelly-like bubble generator that can be obtained through in-game mail. The upcoming event and rewards resemble those of the previous two years, which has displeased many players.
The Genshin Impact player community can also redeem codes that will reward them, but for some fans, that is far from sufficient. Following Genshin Impact's Twitch livestream, fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the announcement on social media. One user desires Genshin Impact to be more generous like one of its predecessors, Honkai Impact 3rd, while others demanded a free character.
It is up to HoYoverse whether they wish to be very generous during such events or not, just as it is up to the players whether they want to invest time and money into this game or not. Although many Genshin Impact fans are once again disappointed by this year's anniversary event and rewards, many of them have used profile pictures featuring new and upcoming characters such as Neuvillette, Wriothesley, and the rumored soon-to-be playable NPC, Furina.
Genshin Impact can be played for free on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and PS5. It is currently also in development for the Nintendo Switch.
