A new leak from Genshin Impact hints at future map updates in the upcoming Fontaine region, suggesting that three new areas will be added post-launch. With just a few weeks until the premiere of Fontaine, HoYoverse has already given fans plenty of reasons to look forward to the upcoming hydro-themed region in version 4.0. Recently, trailers have already revealed some of the new characters planned for Fontaine and hinted at various locations in the Hydro-Archon Focalor's area. Now, there is a new leak that provides players with a better idea of the places they will be able to traverse.

While Genshin Impact has not yet provided players with a deep insight into the many exploratory sites of Fontaine, trailers and leaks have already shown several interesting points in the region. The first teaser trailer of the region showcased several different parts of the capital city of Fontaine, while official concept art and future trailers have hinted at a fishing village and a prison, among others. The region will also introduce diving and underwater mechanics in Genshin Impact upon its release. Now, even more future areas of Fontaine are being teased.

A recent leak shared by the well-known Genshin Impact leaker Tao via the co-leaker Xiaobai provides players with an idea of three upcoming locations within Fontaine. According to the update, Fontaine won't take long to add more exploratory areas, with a "prison" allegedly planned for version 4.1 and a "research institute" for version 4.2. The post also confirms another regional update for Fontaine, where a "dungeon" will be added to the region in version 4.6. HoYoverse has not yet announced any locations planned for the debut of Fontaine in version 4.0.

Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Fontaine Map Expansions

The alleged three-part expansion of the Fontaine map would fit into the HoYoverse trends of past regions, particularly that of the game's most recent location. Sumeru will receive three updates after its debut in version 3.0, each expanding and enhancing the desert. Inazuma will also be expanded with several new islands, including the extensive underground area of Enkanomiya, corresponding to the Japanese theme of the archipelago. There has also been speculation about future map expansions for Mondstadt and Liyue, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

In addition to the multitude of new places to explore, some of the finer details of the region have been leaked ahead of Fontaine's impending debut. According to the leaks, the region will offer over 100 Hydroculi at launch, which can be collected to unlock upgrades for the regional Statue of the Seven. Fontaine will also introduce the latest elemental variant for the main protagonist, with the abilities of the Hydro Traveler already having been leaked early on. Players won't have to wait much longer to embark on their Fontaine adventures, as the latest region of Genshin Impact will debut in three weeks.

Genshin Impact is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A version for the Switch is currently in development.
