Baldur's Gate 3 is pushing boundaries in the realm of open-world RPG gaming. With a multitude of enjoyable activities available, it's easy to overlook some crucial mechanics that can greatly aid you later in the game. One such mechanic is crafting! Crafting is a time-honored feature in video games, and Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't hold back when it comes to this aspect.

Through the art of Alchemy, you have the ability to craft a variety of items, including potions, in Baldur's Gate 3. Potions come in different types and can provide valuable assistance in battles. However, it's important to note that you won't have immediate access to all of them. This guide aims to provide detailed information on the crafting process in Baldur's Gate 3 and how to unlock additional potions to expand your arsenal.

In order to access the crafting menu, you need to open your personal inventory. It is important to note that this inventory is distinct from the inventory of your party members, so ensure that you open the correct one.

Above your inventory, you will find four tabs. One tab allows you to view your inventory, another displays your character stats, including alchemy, and the last one pertains to your Illithid worms. The tab you want to select is the Alchemy tab. By accessing this tab, you will be able to view all the different categories of items that can be crafted in the game.

The lower categories in the list consist of ingredients that are essential for crafting potions, bombs, and weapon coatings. These ingredients can be synthesized using the natural flora you encounter during your adventurous journeys.

To highlight items in your vicinity within the game, press and hold the ALT key on your keyboard or the R3 button on your controller. As you traverse the areas beyond camps or towns, you will encounter diverse plants that can be gathered, including Mugwort and Rogue's Morsel. These botanical treasures are crucial ingredients for crafting salts, essences, and other components that are essential for creating even more significant and valuable items.

Each individual is equipped with an Alchemy pouch in their inventory by default, which automatically stores ingredients like Mergrass. When you possess ingredients ready for use in your inventory, accessing the Alchemy menu allows you to effortlessly select any highlighted ingredient or potion.

Within the Alchemy menu, all items will initially appear grayed out. However, when you possess sufficient ingredients to create a particular item, its title will illuminate in white, indicating that it can be crafted. Additionally, at the bottom of the window, you will find a button labeled "Extract All Ingredients," which enables you to efficiently produce ingredients in large quantities without the need to individually select each one.
