Geoff Keighley wanted to make it clear ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 that this year's show aimed more at expanding on already revealed games rather than unveiling projects we didn't know about before. A fair warning, as there is still so much more that we already know about in 2023. However, there were some reveals in ONL, including a first look at Little Nightmares 3.
Prior to Gamescom Opening Night Live, there were only rumors about a third installment in the Little Nightmares series. The confirmation of its existence was, therefore, an extremely exciting revelation for fans of the series. Little Nightmares 3 currently does not have a fixed release date, but the Gamescom reveal trailer confirmed that it will be released sometime in 2024, barring any delays, of course. Although it doesn't have a release date yet, you can secure your copy of Little Nightmares 3 by pre-ordering through the links below.
One of the more surprising early details revealed about the upcoming Little Nightmares game was that it was not being developed by the same studio as the first two games in the series. Tarsier Studios developed the first two games but made it clear after the release of Little Nightmares 2 that they wanted to focus on new and original content. Clearly, Bandai Namco, in order to keep the series alive, turned to Supermassive, a studio with a lot of experience in the horror genre, to develop the third game.
Little Nightmares 3
Little Nightmares 3 is the third installment of the Little Nightmares series by Bandai Namco. It is the first installment developed by Supermassive after Tarsier Studios handed over the reins. The story focuses on the characters Low and Alone as they try to escape from the Pale City. With its release in 2024, it will also be the first Little Nightmares game to include a co-op option.
Little Nightmares 3 will also be the first game in the series to feature a co-op option. However, it's not just a mere co-op option; the entire game has been built around the co-op mode. The two main characters, Low and Alone, can be controlled by different players and are likely to be present throughout the entire story. There is no confirmation yet on whether the co-op mode will be available exclusively online or if there will be an AI-controlled option for the other character in single-player mode, if desired.
It seems that Little Nightmares 3 does not include any pre-order bonuses regardless of where you purchase it from. However, it is priced at $40, which is significantly cheaper than many of the major games being released in 2024. Just make sure to secure a copy on the correct platform if you place a pre-order through the links mentioned above. Little Nightmares 3 will be practically released on all platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
