"I didn't expect many players to actually choose that path," said Jones, acknowledging that we all understood what he meant. "But, it has to be, in Halsin's voice, 'You... like it?'"

As you may have guessed, this line occurs during the well-known Halsin romance scene. Partway through, he becomes a bit too excited and transforms into his bear form. After composing himself, he apologizes. However, you have the option to respond, "Don't apologize. I like it." This triggers Halsin's reaction, and, well, you can imagine what happens next.

Jones' delivery of the line in front of a live audience was met with laughter and applause, and it's understandable why this particular line stood out to him. However, what is quite surprising is that he believed players wouldn't overwhelmingly choose this option. Frankly, he had too much faith in our restraint.

This was not the only revelation during the Baldur's Gate 3 panel we attended this week. Earlier in the show, Amelia Tyler, who voices the game's narrator, shared that she provides 17 different voices in the game, as her narration style varies depending on the character you're playing. She mentioned that her favorite narration to record was for The Dark Urge, as it was delightfully over-the-top evil. Regardless of the narration you experience, it's remarkable that Larian Studios included such a wide variety of lines. So, as long as you choose a different character origin for your second playthrough, you can expect a unique narration experience each time, avoiding repetition.
