Hogwarts Legacy is selling better than brand-new games

Hogwarts Legacy has once again managed to dominate the sales charts, surpassing some major releases such as Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Throughout the year, Hogwarts Legacy has consistently achieved high rankings in the sales charts, and this is just the latest of many top positions on these lists.

Despite the competition from many other outstanding games released in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy remains the most successful launch of the year. The title sold over 15 million copies and generated $1 billion in revenue for Avalanche Software this year. These numbers continue to grow even now.

According to the sales charts in the UK, Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game in the United Kingdom for the week ending September 2nd. The six-month-old title surpassed Armored Core 6, which was recently released. However, Hogwarts Legacy is not the only game on the list that has been on the market for a while. The third best-selling title was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, while Grand Theft Auto 5 and Minecraft secured the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. The critically acclaimed Starfield also appears on the list, albeit at the seventh spot.

The digital version of Hogwarts Legacy was on sale with a 30% discount a few days ago, but that wouldn't have helped the game's sales figures. The sales charts in the UK only consider physical units sold in the United Kingdom to determine their numbers. This makes the achievement even more impressive, considering that the numbers are likely even higher when digital sales are taken into account.

Hogwarts Legacy is expected to continue selling well throughout the year, especially considering that the game is yet to be released on one platform. Hogwarts Legacy will be available for Nintendo Switch on November 14th. Similar to its release on PS4 and Xbox One, the game is expected to perform well on the platform, particularly given that the timing of its launch is distant from major hits like Tears of the Kingdom, and Nintendo players are likely seeking another big AAA open-world title.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a version for the Switch set to be released on November 14th.
