Since Team Cherry announced a sequel to Hollow Knight, many have been eagerly awaiting Hollow Knight: Silksong. Unfortunately, despite the sequel being announced back in 2019, the release of the game has been delayed beyond the expected launch in the first quarter of 2023 to continue development. With autumn on the horizon, it seems that Hollow Knight: Silksong is still slated to release this year, although no official date has been announced yet.
With only four months left in this year, fans of the 2D platformer still have much to look forward to. As Hollow Knight: Silksong expands upon the lore of the first game, there are several beloved features set to make a return. In particular, there is one small but important quality-of-life function that must be present: the collector's map.
Hollow Knight: Silksong's World is Massive
As Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in development for several years, it can be safely said that a lot of work is happening behind the scenes. Team Cherry mentioned in a blog post that the world is filled with new elements. There are a total of 165 new enemies and 100 different benches scattered throughout. By comparison, in the 2017 game, there are only 41 benches in Hallownest, and upon completion of the Hunter's Journal, there are 150 different enemies.
Although there are twice as many benches in the upcoming Metroidvania, it doesn't necessarily mean that Pharloom will be much larger. The benches could simply indicate that the developers want to provide players with more opportunities to save their progress. On the other hand, Hollow Knight: Silksong originally started as DLC for Hollow Knight. However, it quickly evolved into a standalone title due to its world-building, new characters, and unique mechanics. Therefore, it is likely that the in-game map will be very extensive.
People have noticed that the latest protagonist of the series, Hornet, appears to be much more agile than the Knight. In the brief glimpses that the audience has seen of her, she can move much faster across platforms and make tight turns. However, even if Hornet's playstyle is faster, it might still be easier to discover all the secrets of Pharloom using the collector's map from Hollow Knight.

Unfortunately, the grubs have not been sighted in the sequel yet. However, a Twitter post by user mossbag69 in 2020 highlighted some friendly-looking creatures from the Hollow Knight: Silksong 2019 E3 demo that could potentially be the next species to be rescued. These creatures resemble fluffy fleas and are referred to as the caravan according to the Hollow Knight Wiki. The fleas can be found sleeping in the surroundings of Pharloom, while others are on the lookout for "something precious."
While many hope that the grubs will return in some form, rescuing the fleas could require unique solutions as they have wings. Of course, it remains to be seen if the caravan and its fleas need to be rescued. If that is the case, a map showing their locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong would be extremely helpful.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
