We believe that there is still a reasonable value for your money without investing hundreds of hours. This is especially true for Starfield, which may not be the typical BGS game you would expect. Here's how long the main quest will take, and we will also address the time you would need for the rest, in case you're curious!

How Long Does It Take To Complete Starfield's Main Story?

According to HLTB, the current estimated playtime for the main story of Starfield is 21 hours. However, there are some limitations to consider. Firstly, we are writing this article one day after the game's launch during the early access phase. To say that we currently have limited data points would be an understatement.

Our own experience also plays a role - otherwise, we wouldn't be the ones telling you all this, right? Based on our experience, the main story of Starfield tends to last around 30 hours. Where will you end up? Somewhere in between, perhaps? Maybe, maybe. Nevertheless, we find that the main quests of Starfield are quite enjoyable and among the best that Bethesda has made in a long time.

How Long Does It Take To Complete Every Faction Story?

This question is about the "Constellation" faction, which encompasses the main story of Starfield. We combine this with the four optional factions that you can join. If you're wondering what factions are and have already played a Bethesda RPG - think of the Thieves Guild, the Companions, the Railroad, something along those lines.

We have found that each of the four optional factions typically takes around ten hours to complete. All in all, quite impressive. Therefore, our combined answer to this question is: 25 hours (roughly averaging HLTB's early estimates and our own experience) plus four times 10 hours, which brings us to a total of a satisfying 65 hours.

If you do little else besides the main quests and faction quests, you will have essentially experienced the majority of the carefully crafted content in Starfield and should be satisfied. However, you are still missing out on a lot...

How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent Starfield?

We would be lying if we claimed to have a firsthand answer to that already. Some of us are heavily involved in Starfield, but none of us have managed to truly accomplish everything in the game. Hey, cut us some slack - after all, we're talking about Bethesda here.

And yet there are already early indications on HowLongToBeat, and they are about as extensive as one would expect: A complete Starfield gaming experience is currently estimated at 203 hours. Will this number decrease when millions of players are playing instead of perhaps tens of thousands? Will it, dare we ask, increase? Considering the enduring popularity of Skyrim, listed there at 231 hours, we wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, especially when expansions are released.
