I pretend that every game is another planet in Starfield

Starfield was my most anticipated game of the year 2023, and I haven't had much time to play it. So far, I've only spent about three hours in Bethesda's space exploration simulation. That's what we call barely scratching the surface in the industry.

But while I spend time playing other games that I have to play for work (and of course, for fun), I've discovered a cool life hack that allows me to experience Starfield as well. As you may know, Starfield has 1000 planets that you can visit as you travel through its galaxy. So far, I've only seen a few of them. That means I don't know what's on the other 900+ planets. And that means I can simply imagine that the games I'm currently playing take place on all the Starfield planets I haven't discovered yet.

That may seem strange and unnecessary, but for me, it's helpful. As myself and others here at TheGamer have noticed, 2023 has been a very busy year for the gaming industry - the best year since 2017. And, you know, I'm someone who works best with some structure. I have a to-do list for each workday and an overarching list for each year. So, I decided to start this little thought experiment and imagine that all these unrelated games I'll be keeping up with are their own planets in Starfield. Preparing for the Game of the Year in the fall becomes a grand tour through the galaxy.

For example, Baldur's Gate 3 is simply a gigantic fantasy planet out there in the cosmos of Starfield. Sure, it's fantasy. That's okay, it's a fantasy planet. Sure, it has a different perspective than Starfield. That's because it's an I5-0-METRIC planet.

I am playing Cyberpunk 2077 again, in anticipation of Phantom Liberty, and, you guessed it, that is also a planet in Starfield. I haven't reached Neon in Starfield yet (like I said, I'm still at the beginning), so Night City is currently serving as my substitute neon.

Oh, and when I played Sea of Stars? It was like the part in South Park: The Stick of Truth where the boys go to Canada and suddenly everything looks like an early Dragon Quest game. Sea of Stars is the 1990s planet of Starfield.

And when the Autumn Storm truly begins? Super Mario Bros. Wonder takes place in the Flower Kingdom, which is located outside the familiar Mushroom Kingdom. Who's to say that this new kingdom isn't located on one of the many celestial bodies of Starfield? The same goes for Sonic Superstars. While I'm not exactly sure where the Northstar Islands are located, it certainly sounds like they wouldn't be out of place in space! Alan Wake 2 will simply be a vivid nightmare that my character has in his neon apartment.

And Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is easy to place - Earth exists in Starfield, and Spider-Man is one of the most popular heroes on Earth. I simply imagine that I have discovered a relic from past centuries, a game that earlier generations of Earthlings played at the beginning of the millennium. Actually, that would work for all these games. Let's pretend that I came up with this idea.
