A reliable Nintendo insider has hinted that the anticipated Nintendo Direct in September will include unveilings related to F-Zero and Donkey Kong, strongly suggesting the introduction of new games.
We are already over a week into September, and you know what that means - it's time for some rumors about Nintendo Direct! Nintendo almost always hosts a dedicated Direct presentation in September, and although it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, it appears very likely that it will happen in the upcoming days. This naturally leads to a plethora of hints and speculations about what we might see in the Direct.
Although there are currently many circulating rumors that make it difficult to believe everything, there are some hints worth trusting in and looking forward to. Two such hints have recently emerged from the reliable Nintendo insider Pyoro_X, who suggested that the Direct will feature announcements that should make fans of two dormant Nintendo series very happy.
On Twitter, Pyoro_X started with a hint that I definitely didn't have to Google to understand. He said, "Let's just say fans of a certain MATLAB function will be happy with the upcoming Direct." This naturally refers to the MATLAB function fzero, which is essentially a strong suggestion that something related to the series will be announced during the Direct.
When asked if the announcement had anything to do with the release of F-Zero: Maximum Velocity for Nintendo Switch Online, Pyoro_X simply replied with a "no," indicating that it will be something entirely new for the series. Given the long time that has passed since the last F-Zero game and the numerous hints in recent years, the September Direct is already shaping up to be a significant event.
However, that's not all. The next hint from Pyoro_X is fortunately much easier to understand and leaves me with no doubt that my journalism studies were in vain. They simply posted a GIF of Donkey Kong rolling in the Super Mario Bros. movie. Rumors of a new Donkey Kong game have been circulating for years, so Pyoro_X is suggesting that this month could finally be the time when we learn what's next for our beloved ape.
While Donkey Kong isn't quite as dormant as F-Zero, it has still been quite some time since his last game was released. That game being the excellent platformer Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze from 2014. We have no idea whether it will be another 2D side-scroller or something entirely new, but either way, it's an exciting prospect.
