"Lies Of P" is a captivating game that is expected to appeal to fans of the Souls and Soulslike genres. It adheres to the familiar formula by presenting challenges, cryptic hints to aid NPCs, and minimal guidance. However, it introduces a unique mechanism known as the "Deception System."
While playing the game, you will come across numerous opportunities where your character, P, can choose between truth and deception. These decisions have a significant impact on various aspects of the game. Here is what you need to know about the effects of lying in Lies Of P.
What Happens When You Lie
The very first choice you encounter in the game takes place at the entrance of the Krat Hotel. You will be asked whether you are a puppet or a human, and in order to gain access to the hotel, you must lie.
This initial choice sets the tone for how lying influences the game.
As you progress, you will encounter further decisions like this one as you interact with various NPCs.
The decision to lie will impact the progression of certain quests, the advancement of these quests, the dialogue you experience, and even the rewards you receive.
P, our main character, is unique in that he has the ability to lie, unlike most puppets. The more often he chooses to lie, the more inclined he becomes towards humanity, which ultimately also affects his appearance.
At a specific point in the game, you will notice that P has long hair if you have consistently made the decision to lie.
Furthermore, Lies of P offers three different endings, and your choices regarding truth and deception will determine which ending you will achieve.
If you choose to lie during your gameplay, you will experience either the "Real Boy" or the "Rise of P" ending.
It is interesting to note that once you gain more humanity through lying, you have the opportunity to interact with the cat in the Krat Hotel. Many have wondered why the cat initially reacts aggressively when P first interacts with it; that is because he is a puppet.
