The complete roster list of Mortal Kombat 1 was leaked earlier today, but interestingly, the leaker obtained their information from a Nintendo Switch version. This implies that we have also gained insight into the latest fighters from NetherRealm on significantly less powerful hardware.
"I possess an early copy," Rearisen stated, accompanied by a video showcasing the initial segments of the story mode in Mortal Kombat 1. "I would advise avoiding it on the Switch as the performance does not meet the standard expected of a $70 title. There is considerable stuttering when there is a lot of movement. The most bothersome aspect, however, is this peculiar, persistent flaw that disrupts the center of the screen."
"After we crossed our arms and waited for the fight, approximately two minutes passed when I faced my first AI opponent," Rearisen recounted. "In its current state, I wouldn't say it's unplayable. It's just that the cutscenes have a poor frame rate. However, the actual gameplay runs smoothly. I would also like to mention that I haven't played any installment since the original Mortal Kombat, and it feels just the same." They also mentioned that due to the lower resolution, it appears "pixelated."
Rearisen described the port as "atrocious" and advised against playing it on the Switch. Instead, he suggested playing it on current consoles, if possible. His experience was based on the handheld mode, not the docked mode, so we do not yet know how it looks or plays when stretched to higher resolutions.
In addition to the performance, they have also shared photos of the lineup, providing us with a glimpse of the downgraded models and how they compare to the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series that we have seen in trailers, preview shots, and key graphics.
Bubushan utilized the Mortal Kombat subreddit to create a direct comparison of Johnny Cage, with many making humorous remarks about his "vanished chin" and "thirds."
On the Mortal Kombat Leaks subreddit, Rearisen also shared a photo of their Nintendo Switch running the game, allowing us to catch a glimpse of the complete cameos menu.
Here, the Johnny Cage model has been extracted, but we also get to see Darrius, Smoke, and Sektor on the Switch.
Rearisen claims to have accidentally received their $70 pre-order copy early. However, it is worth mentioning that we have seen similar claims from a Starfield leaker prior to its release.
They were later arrested for alleged theft of copies and attempting to sell them online, indicating that their early delivery was supposedly an illegally obtained copy. However, similar incidents have occurred in the past with the Mortal Kombat series. Just recently, in the case of Part 11, someone received an early PS4 copy and revealed Frost as a secret character.
