In a massive leak from the FTC against the Microsoft case, where several unredacted documents were shared, it was revealed that Xbox and Bethesda are working on a new Dishonored and Doom game.
The new Doom is called Year Zero, and Bethesda already has plans for two expansions. However, this document is three years old and comes from a time before Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, so everything could have changed since then. For example, the document also shows that Bethesda was working on remasters of Oblivion and Fallout 3, but the release date for Oblivion has already passed, so it has obviously been delayed.
According to this document, Doom Year Zero is supposed to be released in the fiscal year 2023, which ends on September 30th. However, it has obviously been delayed. However, it was reported just yesterday that id Software has started working on a new version of their game engine, now called id Tech 8 (thanks, Wccftech). This could be for Doom Year Zero.
Dishonored 3 is currently planned for the fiscal year 2024, but considering the internal delays of Oblivion and Doom Year Zero, it is likely that all the dates in this release schedule have been pushed back. The last Dishonored game is from seven years ago, and during that time, Arkane has released Deathloop and Redfall, with the latter being released just this year.
Although the last Dishonored game is almost a decade old, we recently learned that Deathloop is set in the Dishonored universe, as confirmed by Arkane themselves. "Spoiler Warning! To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Dishonored's release, Dinga Bakaba (Studio Director, Arkane Lyon) and Harvey Smith (Co-Creative Director/Studio Director, Arkane Austin) from Arkane Studios confirmed in the official Xbox podcast that Deathloop takes place in the Dishonored universe."
Deathloop takes place after the death of the Outsider, when the Outsider is no longer active. How it connects, if at all, with Dishonored 3 is not clear.
The document also revealed a new Ghostwire: Tokyo game. The first installment was released just last year in March, but according to the schedule, Bethesda plans to release the sequel in the fiscal year 2024, along with Dishonored 3 and The Elder Scrolls 6.
Since then, we have heard that The Elder Scrolls 6 is at least three to five years away. Therefore, one should approach all the release dates shown here with caution. Nevertheless, Bethesda is not done with Ghostwire yet.
