Players of Starfield have begun constructing the smallest ships possible

Starfield offers extensive ship building features, enabling players to create a wide variety of unique and unconventional vehicles that can be piloted throughout the Settled Systems. You have the freedom to recreate iconic spaceships from other franchises, such as the Millennium Falcon and the Normandy. Alternatively, you can embrace your creativity and construct eccentric designs like a large cube. Praise the cube!

Currently, Starfield players are utilizing these tools in a unique manner. Rather than aiming to construct the largest or most impressive ships, their focus is on building the smallest and lightest ships imaginable. This has resulted in the creation of charming and endearing designs, making the journey across the expansive star system of the game a more intimate experience.

This trend has been ongoing for a few days, and one of the recent examples was shared by u/ShamblingKorpse on the Starfield subreddit earlier today. Remarkably, their ship is incredibly small, weighing only 199 mass. This is mainly due to the ship being composed of very few parts. It resembles more of a massive floating toaster with lasers rather than a traditional spaceship. What's even more impressive is that u/ShamblingKorpse managed to further reduce the ship's mass to just 183.

Certainly, u/ShamblingKorpse is not the sole individual crafting miniature ships. Another player named u/Vault-Brock shared their own creation a few days ago. Although not as small as the previous example, they earn extra points for style and the practicality of accommodating more than two individuals. However, their ship is still relatively small, featuring just a single companionway hab. Unfortunately, u/Vault-Brock did not disclose the mass of their ship, so we are unable to compare its weight to that of u/ShamblingKorpse's ship.

There may be a few other instances to be found, such as u/Watermelonegg's Barbie-themed miniature ship. However, it is safe to say that u/ShamblingKorpse currently holds the record for the smallest and lightest ship. It is unlikely to find ships much tinier than that, unless someone manages to ride in a literal tin can with engines attached. When it comes to Bethesda fans, I don't rule out anything.

Of course, nothing is lighter than the weightlessness of space, and you could surpass all of these ships quite easily if there was a way to leave your own ship. Fortunately, fans discovered a method earlier this month, using only two console commands, to exit their ship while in the middle of space and even establish a base on a nearby meteorite.
