Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask - How to Obtain Blood Moon Ursaluna

The first DLC chapter of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is titled "The Teal Mask" and takes you to the new region of Kitakami, a vast area filled with forests, orchards, and mountains waiting to be explored. While there are many new Pokemon to catch in this location, one of its most enigmatic inhabitants hails from times long past.

Ursaluna, originally introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, is an evolved form of Ursaring that roamed the lands of Hisui hundreds of years ago. This unique version of Ursaluna has mysteriously survived and exhibits a more aggressive behavior, along with newfound lunar-related powers.

Perrin's Photo Survey

From the moment you arrive in Kitakami, a blue-haired NPC in Mossui City will be passionately taking photos. She will introduce herself as Perrin, a photographer from the Sinnoh region who has traveled all the way to Kitakami to learn more about a legend from her homeland.

She will ask you to catch 150 Pokemon from the Kitakami Pokedex before you're allowed to do anything else. While this may seem like a challenging task, if you have already completed the Paldea Pokedex, you should already have half of the Kitakami Pokedex complete, so it shouldn't take too long.

Once you have captured all the required Pokemon, she will challenge you to a battle. After showcasing your skills, she will ask for your help in photographing a Pokemon known as the "Blood Moon Beast," a surviving Ursaluna rumored to reside in the Timeless Forests.

How To Play Perrin's Photo Survey

After setting up your camp in the Timeless Forests, a cutscene will play, leading to a swift and unavoidable battle against a wild Ariados. Defeat this Pokemon, and Perrin's photo survey will commence.

In this minigame, you will need to walk around and take photos of different Pokemon in various locations and situations until you capture ten different species of Pokemon.

Fighting Bloodmoon Ursaluna

Once you have completed the minigame, another cutscene will play, and the Blood Moon Beast will appear, triggering a battle. Keep in mind that this battle will unfold like a titan confrontation. You must defeat Blood Moon Ursaluna entirely before you can catch it. Once you have accomplished that, you will have a guaranteed opportunity to capture it.

Go back to Mossui City and talk to Perrin, where a cutscene will play, and the quest will end.
