Pokémon fan creates impressive Japanese ink painting of Eelektross and Tynamo

An artist has created a Japanese ink painting in the style of Electric-type Pokémon Tynamo and Eelektross.

Eelektross is considered underrated due to its ability to not be weak against Ground-type attacks.

Eelektross and its evolutionary line are underrepresented in fan artworks, making this piece of art a special delight for fans.

A talented Pokémon fan artist has created a Japanese ink painting in the style of the Electric-type Pokémon Tynamo and Eelektross. Tynamo and its evolutionary line were introduced in the fifth generation of Pokémon games, Black and White. Eelektross is the final evolution of Tynamo, with the intermediate form Eelektrik being skipped.

Thanks to its stat-boosting move, Coil, and the ability Levitate, Eelektross is considered one of the most underrated Electric-type Pokémon. As Pokémon fans know, Electric types are typically weak against Ground-type attacks. However, thanks to Eelektross's Levitate ability, Ground-type attacks are ineffective against it. In other words, Eelektross is one of the rare Pokémon that has no weaknesses. Perhaps due to its design, Eelektross and its evolutionary line are not generally considered fan favorites.

Reddit user ZanorinSeregris has taken the underrated Eelektross and transformed it into an epic Japanese ink painting. Several Tynamo, the first form of Eelektross, are also included as a fun detail. Various members of the community have expressed their delight over this amazing artwork, as they too believe that this Pokémon is underestimated.

This is the 39th Pokémon that the artist has recreated in this style, and they state that they will continue until they "give up." Other recent Japanese ink paintings of Pokémon shared by the Reddit user with the community include Tyranitar, Arboliva, and Dachsbun. The Pokémon fan has also notably created a unique Japanese ink painting of Scizor.

Unlike most starter and legendary Pokémon, creatures like Eelektross are often underrepresented in the world of fan art. Therefore, fans of these creatures often get very excited when they finally see such incredible artworks. For example, the community responded extremely positively when a talented artist created alternative forms of Fennexis, an often overlooked Fire-type starter from Pokémon X and Y.

Eelektross fans have recently achieved another potential success, as their entire evolutionary line was listed in a recent datamine for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC following the release of The Teal Mask. If the leak is accurate, this would mean that Tynamo, Eelektrik, and Eelektross would be among the approximately 200 returning Pokémon featured in the two waves of DLC for the Gen-9 RPG. The first wave was recently released for the Nintendo Switch, and the second wave titled The Indigo Disk is expected to launch before the end of the year.

Pokémon fan art often provides a glimpse into underappreciated characters, and that's what makes it so great. Every Pokémon is likely a favorite of at least one fan out there, so it's nice to see underrepresented creatures like Eelektross and Tynamo getting their moment in the spotlight with cool fan-created pieces like this one.
