Pokemon GO has confirmed that Charmander will be the featured Pokémon for the Community Day Classic in September 2023. The popular mobile game from the long-running monster-catching franchise has provided numerous opportunities in recent weeks to obtain rare and exclusive Pokémon. Last weekend, the Pokemon GO Fest Global 2023 took place, allowing players worldwide to benefit from increased spawns and brand-new shiny Pokémon. Now, a beloved member of the original 151 Pokémon will take the spotlight in September.
The Community Day events in Pokémon GO are one of the highlights of each new month for the extremely popular mobile game. The monthly celebrations focus on a specific Pokémon with increased spawn rates and shiny rates, as well as special field research that provides players with even more chances to catch the featured Pokémon. The Community Days also include special advantages for evolving the selected Pokémon, with powerful exclusive moves that are available for a limited time. Niantic has now confirmed that one of the original starters will be the spotlight Pokémon for September.
An official announcement from Niantic has revealed that Charmander will be the featured Pokémon for the Community Day Classic in September 2023. Charmander's Community Day will take place on Saturday, September 2nd, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time and will offer increased spawn rates for the Fire-type starter Pokémon. If a Charmeleon is evolved into a Charizard during the event, players will also gain access to special moves for Charizard, namely the fast move Dragon Breath and the charged move Blast Burn. The event will also include an exclusive "Classic Special Research" available for purchase.
In addition to increased spawn rates for Charmander, the Community Day will also offer many other special advantages for participating players. Pokémon GO will include increased Stardust rates for catching Pokémon, and the duration of Incense and Lure Modules will be extended to three hours. The event will also feature special timed research tasks where players can earn Mega Energy for their newly acquired Charizards. Pokémon GO has also confirmed that special PokéStop presentations will take place at selected PokéStops during the Community Day event.
The latest Community Day of Pokémon GO comes at a time when the mobile game has undergone numerous significant updates in the summer of 2023. Earlier this month, Niantic announced that the starter Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would be added to Pokémon GO in September. In July, the introduction of Routes in Pokémon GO allowed players to share their in-game walking paths with others. The Community Day in September featuring Charmander offers players the opportunity to obtain one of the most iconic creatures in the franchise.
Pokemon GO is available now for mobile devices.
