Grubbin will be the featured Pokémon for the Community Day event in Pokémon GO in September 2023, with increased encounter rates and a chance to encounter its shiny variant.
Players who catch Grubbin and evolve it into Vikavolt during the event will receive the exclusive fast attack Volt Switch.
The Community Day event will also offer bonuses such as XP boosts, candy rewards, reduced stardust costs for trading, and special Charjabug raid battles.
Pokémon GO has announced that the Bug-type Pokémon Grubbin from the 7th generation will be the centerpiece of the game's Community Day event in September 2023. For a very limited time, Pokémon GO players can participate in the September 2023 Community Day to earn additional rewards and Pokémon.
Every month, The Pokémon Company and Niantic host Pokémon GO Community Day events to highlight a selected Pokémon. During the Community Day event, Pokémon GO players can benefit from increased encounter rates and rewards, and special Field Research offers players even more opportunities. After the main phase of the Community Day event concludes, Pokémon GO typically launches a special four-star raid battle where the chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon is increased after a hard-fought victory.
A new Pokémon GO post from Niantic confirms that Grubbin will be the featured Pokémon for the Community Day event taking place later this month in September 2023. Grubbin will appear more frequently in the wild in Pokémon GO, with an increased chance of encountering its shiny variant, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time on Saturday, September 23. During the event, players who catch a Grubbin and evolve it into Vikavolt will receive the exclusive fast attack Volt Switch. Additionally, the Community Day special research associated with Grubbin, titled "Steady Progress," will be available in the Pokémon GO in-game shop for $1. Alternatively, players can redeem the new special research with a gift ticket.
In addition to the new special research, several bonuses will be active during the three-hour Community Day period. These time-limited bonuses include 3x XP boosts, double candy rewards, an additional special trade, and a 50% reduction in stardust costs for trading. Players can also participate in special four-star raid battles featuring Charjabug on September 23 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time. Completing the new four-star raid battle will grant increased encounter rates for Grubbin for a duration of 30 minutes.
The latest announcement about Niantic's Community Day comes just two days after the classic Community Day event in September 2023 featuring Charmander in Pokémon GO. The Grubbin Community Day event is expected to provide another valuable opportunity for leveling up Pokémon and earning more rewards than usual. Due to its Volt Switch ability, Vikavolt is likely to be a sought-after Pokémon for trading, so players can also benefit greatly from trading during the event.
After catching a shiny Grubbin, Pokémon GO players can showcase their Pokémon in a PokéStop presentation. These presentations provide even more rewards such as Stardust, Great Balls, and Hyper Potions, which are helpful items for players choosing to participate in the Community Day festivities.
Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
