Ranking Every Season of Fortnite

Chapter 2: Season 8 - Cubed was not as memorable as some of the other seasons, despite featuring interesting concepts and introducing new locations such as Corny Crops and The Convergence.

Season X - Out of Time did not provide sufficient new content, as it had few cosmetics and overwhelming gameplay changes, despite the epic black hole climax and the return of beloved locations.

Chapter 2: Season 1 - A New World was underwhelming, with minimal updates and additions, leaving fans disappointed after the epic conclusion of the previous chapter.

However, the addition of boats and fishing was a noteworthy and enjoyable feature.

Fortnite was already a distinctive experience when it initially launched in July 2017. It revitalized the classic battle royale genre, bringing it to the forefront of gaming and inspiring many other games to follow suit. One key factor that has contributed to the game's longevity and freshness is the introduction of seasons.

Each season offers players the opportunity to unlock exclusive items through a battle pass, experience various limited-time game modes, and witness significant map changes that can greatly influence gameplay. Thus far, there have been 17 seasons, each leaving a substantial impact on the game. However, it's worth noting that some seasons have been more memorable than others.

Updated on September 26, 2023, by Ashely Claudino: Today marks the sixth anniversary of Fortnite's Battle Royale game mode. Over the past six years, both Epic Games and Fortnite players have experienced an exciting journey. Fans have had the chance to explore numerous season themes and witness countless game updates. Since the last update of this article, many season themes have come and gone, and it is now time to incorporate them into this ranked list. The list has been updated to include all the seasons released between Chapter 2 Season 7 and Chapter 4 Season 4.

Every Season Of Fortnite, Ranked

Period: September 13, 2021 - December 4, 2021

Days Lasted: 82

Theme: Cube Corruption

New Locations: Corny Crops and The Convergence

Chapter 2 Season 8 marked the final season of the second chapter of Fortnite. It featured intriguing concepts like The Mothership and introduced notable characters like Fabio Sparklemane and Carnage through its Battle Pass. However, in comparison to more thrilling or nostalgia-inducing seasons, it can be regarded as somewhat forgettable.

24 Chapter 4: Season 3 - WILDS

Every Season Of Fortnite,

Period: June 9, 2023 - August 25, 2023

Days Lasted: 76

Theme: Jungle

New Locations: Rumble Ruins, Creeky Compound, Shady Stilts.

Fortnite WILDS introduced several intriguing concepts, but it didn't manage to captivate players as much as it had the potential to. It was released following the conclusion of the action-packed MEGA Season, which set high expectations for fans. While it did introduce the jungle biome and the unique gameplay mechanic of mud, it fell short of some fans' expectations. However, it did bring enjoyable temples filled with loot, offering exciting exploration opportunities.

New Locations: Dusty Depot, Gotham City, Greasy Grove, Moisty Palms, Pandora, Retail Row, Starry Suburbs, The Cube, The Meteor, and Tilted Town.

While the black hole climax was unquestionably epic and the reintroduction of beloved locations was a welcome addition, Season X of Fortnite fell short in terms of providing substantial new content to maintain a sense of freshness in the game. The battle pass lacked a significant number of new cosmetics, with players having to settle for upgraded skins from Season 9. The gameplay changes themselves were not necessarily negative, but the sheer quantity of them may have been overwhelming for some players.

Days Lasted: 128

Theme: New Beginnings

New Locations: Craggy Cliffs, Dirty Docks, Frenzy Farm, Holly Hedges, Lazy Lake, Misty Meadows, Steamy Stacks, Slurpy Swamp, Sweaty Sands, and Weeping Woods.

After a few days of downtime, Fortnite made a comeback with a fresh new map and its longest season ever. Unfortunately, similar to Season X, the first season of Chapter 2 was somewhat disappointing, lacking significant updates throughout its duration. The inclusion of boats, fishing, and the harpoon was appreciated by some, but many fans were hoping for more following the grand finale of Chapter 1.

It appears that a significant amount of effort and attention was put into designing the new skins for Chapter 2: Season 6. However, it seems that not enough consideration was given to the gameplay adjustments. There were some improvements towards the end of the season, and the Zero Crisis storyline concluded in a satisfying manner. Nevertheless, considering that combat plays a crucial role in the game's success, many players were anticipating more significant enhancements, especially in regards to the weapons.

Players had the ability to coat themselves in Chrome, granting increased movement speed, access to fast-paced Chrome weapons, and the opportunity to confront the formidable Herald within a formidable Chrome fortress.

The storyline may not have been as intricate during this season, but the gameplay was highly enjoyable, particularly during the Fortnitemares event. DJ Lyka's fantastic performance at the Reality Tree and the ability for players to transform into wolves added an extra layer of fun to the experience.

Days Lasted: 84

Theme: Futuristic

Season 9 of Fortnite had its fair share of highs and lows, but credit should be given to Epic Games for the ambitious changes they introduced during the season. Neo-Tilted emerged as the popular landing spot, featuring futuristic skyscrapers and air currents that allowed players to swiftly traverse the city. The decision to replace the pump shotgun with the combat shotgun initially sparked controversy, but players eventually recognized its effectiveness as a formidable weapon.

Fortnite took on a slightly spookier tone with the arrival of Season 6. Given its timing around Halloween, the developers made intentional efforts to create a darker and more ominous atmosphere on the map, which pleasantly surprised many players. This season introduced zombies to the battle royale mode, initially seen as a fun addition. However, some players felt that the presence of zombies significantly disrupted end game situations, leading to mixed opinions about their inclusion.

The alien invasion theme that dominates the seventeenth season of Fortnite is exceptionally well-crafted and evidently leading up to another epic event. The gameplay changes were not overly intrusive, and the alien-themed cosmetics were all visually impressive. The inclusion of the Rick Sanchez skin also felt fitting considering the theme.

The theme of the battle pass revolved around rifts in time and space, enabling Epic Games to create captivating locations like Viking Mountain. The inclusion of various weapons and items, including the Rift-to-Go, Heavy Sniper, Double Barrel Shotgun, and many others, ensured that this season offered something for every player to enjoy.

The gameplay during that time felt distinctively different, as everyone was new to the game, resulting in a lesser emphasis on building compared to the prevalent building mechanics seen today.

Fortnite has demonstrated remarkable proficiency in enhancing the building mechanics since Season 1, implementing updates that enable builds to pass through trees and introducing the builder-pro option specifically tailored for players using controllers.

Not everyone was thrilled about experiencing another season with a superhero theme, prompting Epic to make some changes for the fifteenth season of the game. The introduction of bounty hunter elements provided a refreshing shift in dynamics, and the new skins introduced were notably impressive, particularly the Star Wars cosmetics. The return of the "The Floor is Lava" game mode was a pleasant surprise, although it was marred by an oversight that allowed players to exploit the system using jetpacks, detracting from the overall experience.
