PlayStation has finally given us a first official glimpse into the Separate Ways DLC of Resident Evil 4, which has been in development for quite some time. The best part is that we can step into the shoes of Ada much earlier than anticipated, as the Separate Ways DLC will be released next week on September 21st.
For those who have never heard of this DLC, it allows players to experience the events of Resident Evil 4 from the perspective of Ada Wong as she tries to locate a sample of Las Plagas for Albert Wesker. Similar to the main game, we can likely expect some alterations in the actual content of the DLC, but it will largely remain the same as the expansion for the original Resident Evil 4.
Unfortunately, we don't get to see much of Ada's gameplay, as the trailer instead showcases some cutscenes where Ada interacts with other characters, such as Luis, and observes Leon from a distance. We know that it will behave very similarly to the main game, so those of you who have extensively played Resident Evil 4 will have an idea of what to expect. However, there will be at least a few hours of new story material for you to sink your teeth into.
Furthermore, it has also been announced that the long-awaited VR mode of the Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on PlayStation VR 2 later this year. Unfortunately, we haven't received an exact release date for the mode, but it has been confirmed to arrive sometime this winter. However, in the meantime, we have been given some more gameplay footage to help bridge the wait. Clips from the early portion of the game were showcased, along with some impressive gunfights.
As for further announcements during the State of Play, it was a rather quiet presentation from PlayStation, providing updates on previously announced titles. One of these titles was Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, which was announced for February 29th next year. Not only that, but we also got to see for the first time that Kait Sith will be playable, as well as our first glimpse of Vincent Valentine, even if it was just a brief cameo appearance.
