Samba de Amigo received a lot of attention in arcades in 1999, primarily due to its unique maraca controllers that detected movements using magnetic sensors. Sega has recreated the experience for the Dreamcast console with a controller that triangulates the position using ultrasound. Samba de Amigo: Party Central reinvents this concept.
Motion controls have evolved significantly since the early 2000s. In Samba de Amigo: Party Central, you replace the bulky maracas with your compact Nintendo Switch Joy-Con. So, how are maracas translated to the Joy-Con? We will answer some frequently asked questions in our FAQ below.
FAQ
Q: How Do The Motion Controls Work?
The motion controls of Samba de Amigo: Party Central use the gyroscopes of the Joy-Con to determine the angle of the controllers.
- Aiming the Joy-Con upward hits high targets.
- Aiming the Joy-Con parallel to the ground hits mid targets.
- Aiming the Joy-Con downward hits low targets.
How you position your arms is not relevant. It's the angle of the Joy-Con that matters.
