A Skyrim player has discovered a mysterious door in the College of Winterhold that does not correspond to its expected destination.
The door leads to a banner of the College of Winterhold instead of the second floor.
This hidden detail has largely gone unnoticed since the game's release but could potentially indicate further inconsistencies in the game world of Skyrim.
A player of Skyrim has discovered a door in the College of Winterhold that doesn't make sense due to its position. There are many secrets to uncover in the open game world of Skyrim, and after many hours of gameplay, a player has made an interesting discovery.
Every major settlement in Skyrim offers various quests and can have a customizable player home. Some of the locations that Skyrim players can call home include Markarth, Solitude, Whiterun, and Windhelm. The College of Winterhold also features a dedicated room for the player if they choose to pursue magic. By staying at the College of Winterhold, magic-oriented players can improve their skills in the categories of Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, and Restoration. Apart from these magical categories, a player has discovered an interesting detail about this important location in Skyrim.
Reddit user TheAlfredValentine recently shared a clip of their experiences observing some of the hidden rooms in the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. The video begins with TheAlfredValentine, after 2,500 hours of gameplay, ascending one of the staircases in the main entrance of the College of Winterhold. After climbing a staircase and standing in front of a door, TheAlfredValentine descends the stairs back to the main floor, indicating that the door at the top of the stairs seemingly leads to nothing. The high ceiling of the main floor does not display a door in the location where it should be based on its positioning on the staircase.
Beyond a single attempt, TheAlfredValentine then activates a Skyrim console command that allows them to fly around the room. TheAlfredValentine flies up the staircase and through the door to demonstrate that exiting the other side leads the player past a banner of the College of Winterhold instead of entering the second floor of the building. If TheAlfredValentine were to interact with the door instead of passing through it using the command, their character would be transported to the upper levels of the College. As this Skyrim door does not lead where it should, some developer tricks might be happening in the background when players pass through the door normally.
Although this door in the College of Winterhold in Skyrim does not seem to match its intended destination, this detail has largely gone unnoticed since the game was released. In light of this, this door could represent a percentage of inconsistencies in the game world of Skyrim, and similar details could be discovered in the future.
Skyrim is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and some older consoles.
