Some Pokémon fans are not satisfied with Mewtwo's new character model in Scarlet and Violet

Some fans of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expressed dissatisfaction with the updated character model of Mewtwo in the games. This occurred following the launch of the latest Mewtwo Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

For the month of September, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have prepared a seven-star Tera Raid boss battle against Mewtwo the Unbeatable. Mewtwo is a Tera-Pokémon of Psychic type with the ability to execute powerful psychic attacks and make Pokémon nervous, preventing them from eating berries. Once defeated, players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can capture the legendary Pokémon and add it to their teams. The current Tera Raid runs until September 17th, giving players ample time to prepare their Pokémon before facing Mewtwo.

Some players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expressed that they are not fans of Mewtwo's new character model. A Reddit user named JAMEZV1 stated that they preferred Mewtwo's previous appearance in Pokémon Sword and Shield, sparking a discussion about whether the Pokémon franchise should continue using old designs or update them. A significant number of individuals seemed to agree with the post, pointing out that Mewtwo's features in Scarlet and Violet appeared lower in quality compared to Sword and Shield. On the other hand, some seemed to appreciate the updated character model because Mewtwo's expression looked more "realistic" and "menacing," despite the graphical issues faced by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

It is no secret that Game Freak has updated the character models and animations for a number of Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Many fans have already noticed the changes in Charizard's design as well as the adjustment of the size of some Pokémon to match their canonical size. This could be the developer's way of giving the creatures a fresh new look. In fact, some fans on Reddit have noticed the change while playing Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
