Someone has built a functioning ship in Starfield that is simply a cube

The shipbuilding in Starfield is so extensive that people are recreating the Millennium Falcon and the Planet Express from Futurama. However, there is a new meta on the horizon... cubes. Enormous, unsightly, unwieldy cubes soaring through the sky like a lump of meat sliding down your throat.

Constructing a cube-shaped spaceship can be quite straightforward. Place all the essential components in the center, surround them with blocks, and attach a few engines at the rear. Now you can navigate through inhabited systems in a vessel that essentially resembles an oversized Minecraft block. I suppose in space, there is no need for aerodynamic properties.

"Resistance is futile," wrote IngeniousIdiocy, adding a detailed video of their cube-shaped spaceship. "I've concealed the gravitational drive, reactor, shield, fuel tanks, and cargo compartments within a hollow space measuring 2x2x2. It has a maneuverability rating of 36 and obstructs the camera, so I won't keep it, but building it was enjoyable, and the interior's variety brings much delight. A 3x2 dining hall, a 2x2 prison cell... entertaining elements that wouldn't fit in a typical structure. The total number of components and the vertical height limitation were crucial factors determining the size of the construction."

It's one thing to tinker with it in the shipbuilding menu. People wanted to see this impractical monstrosity of modern design in action, and IngeniousIdiocy delivered. They filmed their cube-shaped spaceship during a gravitational jump and landing to showcase how it appears in the Starfield environment. It occupies a significant portion of the screen, and one can hardly see out of the window in the first-person perspective, posing a certain flight risk.

They don't intend to use it, but many have made suggestions to make the ship visually more appealing, at least. One suggestion was to paint it like a Rubik's Cube or a GameCube as it flies through space, mapping the galaxy, with a retro Earth touch to commemorate its tragic demise. Others have proposed painting it like a dice or attaching four wheels to transform it into an ugly Lego van.

You are not alone in creating a massive block for your spaceship in Starfield. Morfalath has assembled the outer edges of a cube and left the center empty, so that attackers would shoot straight through and miss. It's a brilliant, albeit painful sight to behold.

Another user named Rogerbackstab has built a ship that is elongated but still cube-shaped. It boasts 69,000 cargo space, so this could be the way to go if you're having trouble with the weight of your inventory.

Cube-shaped ships may not be beautiful, they may not be practical, and they may not look good... that's basically it.
