Spider-Man 2 fans are upset with the "uninspired" design of the Special Edition PS5

The release date of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is just shy of two months away in the future. However, in order to get fans in the mood ahead of time, PlayStation has already been selling the special limited edition of the PS5 console, discs, and controllers that were first announced about a month ago. These products were recently dispatched to all those who pre-ordered them. Although the announcement in the trailer showcased a rather sleek device, the fans are not entirely satisfied with the overall design.

Indeed, it is the right side of the console that seems to have angered fans the most. In a rather popular thread on the Spider-Man PS4 subreddit, some individuals label the design as "uninspired" and a "quick money grab." The left side of the system is likely all you have seen thus far. It presents a rather cool design in red and black, reminiscent of tentacles that obscure Spider-Man, paying homage to Venom.

When looking at the other side, as seen in the Reddit post by u/DEXu09 below, one can understand why so many fans have an issue with it. On the right side of the system, none of the tentacle designs are visible. Instead, it is simply entirely black, with the Spider-Man logo carelessly placed at the bottom, not even centered. There are far fewer details compared to the left side, and some even argue that there are "better fan-made PS5 themes than this."

Fortunately, the fact that it is located on the right side of the console means that, when positioned horizontally, the less impressive side remains unseen. However, it is a kind of disappointment for those who showcase their systems vertically. On the other hand, the controller is still quite tidy and exhibits a noticeably more consistent design than the system itself. Nevertheless, it leaves something to be desired, especially as Xbox dominates the cosmetic game with all the fantastic-looking Starfield merchandise for the Xbox Series X.

In other Spider-Man 2 news, the official file size of the game was recently leaked through the special edition console box, and it's going to be quite substantial. It's best to prepare yourself to free up some space on your PS5 devices next month because Spider-Man 2 will occupy a hefty 98 GB of storage, nearly double the size of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Hopefully, this indicates that the game is quite extensive and offers numerous possibilities, but we will only know for certain once the game is released on October 20th next month.
