Spider-Man 2 Official File Size Revealed by Limited Edition Console Box

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is still a little way off, which is torture for those who can't wait to dive into Peter and Miles' next big adventure. There are just under two months left until the release, but there's something we can do now to prepare for the big day. It's time to delete all those big games you'll never play because the file size of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 seems to have been revealed thanks to the recently released limited edition consoles of the game.

First shared by @SpiderManCD on Twitter, it appears that the packaging of the sleek limited edition console announced by PlayStation not too long ago includes the official file size for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on the back, which apparently stands at a hefty 98 GB. This has not been officially confirmed yet, but considering the fact that the file size is stated on the back of an official PlayStation product, we can assume it is legitimate.

However, it is a surprisingly large download, almost twice the size of the other Spider-Man games on the PS5. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered takes up 54 GB of storage space, while Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales occupies 50 GB. This makes sense considering that the map of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is purportedly twice as large as the original game's and adds previously missing districts like Queens and Brooklyn. There are also two main characters this time, so perhaps this file size will finally silence those critics who dismiss the game as "glorified DLC."

It's still a rather extensive download, so make sure to delete anything you won't be playing in the near future to make space for it. However, you still have some time to cross off a few things from your backlog, as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is expected to be released on October 20th of this year. However, it might be a bit more challenging than it sounds with high-quality games like Armored Core 6 and the PS5 release of Baldur's Gate 3 on the horizon.

In other news regarding Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it will please you to learn that the game is embroiled in another "Puddlegate"-like scandal, this time concerning Peter Parker's suit. A post on Twitter from a few days ago recently went viral as toxic fans did what they do best, insulting PlayStation and Insomniac for apparently only showcasing a modified model version. It wouldn't be the pre-release period of an Insomniac game without some truly mind-numbing drama.
